What really is perfection ?

some think perfection is happiness.
↑ Hide Debate Description

There's this perception that perfection will make us happy. I mean, really, what's perfection? We see it as someone being faultless, strong, confident in every aspect of their being. Someone without anything to worry about because they're faultless. But maybe that's not really what perfection is. Maybe perfection is someone being completely happy with who they are and being the best to their ability. Maybe perfection is accepting the faults you possess and working them towards your advantage. Heck, maybe it's just finding the thing you where born to do and achieving your goals. Maybe that's perfection. Maybe that's what it takes to be happy. But can you really be perfect? Can you really reach perfection?

Perfection only exists in the mind of the person who pursues it. There really is no such thing as perfection since most everything and everyone is flawed is some way. We may think we've found the perfect situation or perfect relationship but time will tell us that the perfection we thought or felt was really fleeting and sometimes imaginary. Many things, people or situations look perfect from the outside but at second glance don't seem so wonderful after all.

Very insightful. I agree, perfection is something that we conjure up in our minds as to what we expect would be ideal. However, we often find that whatever it is we thought would be perfect (be it a person, an automobile, a trip, whatever) actually has flaws.

good response as well. Do you think that our ability to accept flaws in a [insert noun here] is what makes us perceive things as perfect ?

I've noticed that you sometimes add an argument to a debate that you create to further clarify what you're asking for, such as this one. I recommend using the "Debate Description" feature when you create a debate (or you can get to it via the Moderator Panel" for debates you created) to add this so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle of the voting. This will also help user's to focus their arguments on what you want them to. Hope that helps!

no perfection. when you have a free world, there's violence. when you have a controlled world, there's control and boredom.

a person always has a flaw, no matter what. i see that it is possible to lie your way into making people think you're awesome... but then you're a liar.
