What's the difference between a profession and a job?
A lawyer owes a duty to the law.. A paralegal owes NO duty. Scientists OWE a duty to science.. A technician OWES nothing.. A CPA owes a duty to his profession.. An accountant owes NO duty.. A journalist owes a duty to his profession. A pundit does not. We DO that so when a PROFESSIONAL says something, it's his PROFESSION speaking, and NOT the individual..
Do you hold what NON professionals say in the same regard as what professionals say??

As it was explained to me in an interview once, Employers want someone to say they want a career instead of they want a job. The mindset of that is, if you are looking for a career you are looking long term, the money they put into hiring you is worth it. If you are looking for a job it's more of a short term work decision and may not be worth the effort or time to train you. Side: A professional DOES owe a duty

And what do you call all of those people who started out poor and have a great life in a Capitalistic society I call them one percent of society. Poor at 20, Poor for Life https://www.theatlantic.com/business/ Side: Employees owe a duty too
They're all just jobs. And the only duty you owe to that job is to fulfill the work based on the pre-established terms. Some of those jobs have grand terms, like doctors taking an oath, but others simply have credentialing and practice requirements. Personally, I think the difference between a profession and a job is professions have pre-established paths for getting from Joe Shmo on the street to a practicing professional career.... Doctors, lawyers, plumbers, electricians, teachers, etc, all have school then periods of on the job training called internships or residencies or fellowships, etc. Nonprofessionals either skip schooling, or do indeed get schooling, but when they get out it's pretty much a crap shoot what comes next for them. That's often actually why people with BAs stick around to do MAs or PhDs, because at least then there's a semblance of a path that they're on instead of just walking out of graduation and hunting for that career job right out of school.
