What should Walgreens do about dispensing a prescription to the wrong person?

On 08/21/2014 Walgreens Store #7292 had a number of pharmacy procedure process failures which led to the dispensing of a prescription to the wrong person.  We understand that the following occurred:

 

Individual #1 and Individual #2 went to this Walgreens pharmacy to have their script filled.  We can confirm individual #2 went on 08/21/2014.  Individual #1 came to pick up her script after individual #2 dropped her script off to be filled.  It is our understanding that Individual #1 was given individual #2's medication.  Individual #2 went back to the store to pick up her medication and was detained by the pharmacy staff who insisted she had already picked up her meds.  Apparently this detention lasted for the better part of 2+ hours when individual #2 was allowed to leave without her filled script.  From what we understand, none of the pharmacy staff did anything to try to confirm her identity including reviewing the required release signatures, or consider that they gave the meds to the wrong person and what impact that might have.  On 08/22/2014, Individual #1 took one of her meds (which was mistakenly dispensed to her) and while she was expecting a pain med, she was actually dosed with 30mg of Adderall.  This put her life in jeopardy as she suffered from an overdose of Adderall.  When patient #2 called the pharmacy they told her to go to the ER, but we do not believe they have taken any other action to remedy the situation.

So here is the debate:

What should Walgreens do to compensate both individuals for the breakdown in their procedure which caused Individual #1's life to be put in jeopardy and Individual #2 to be detained and humiliated and not get her script?

In all probability, the cases will be taken to court or settled in meditation that determines financial compensation. What Walgreens should actually do is revisit its training procedures. Hearing this does not surprise me at all; I have seen procedure violated multiple times when I have filled prescriptions. Thankfully, it has never backfired quite so badly on myself or anyone I know.

fire everyone, sue the company.

come on, stop being kind on these people that make life costing mistakes like this and get away with it!!

They should be sued and punished because they could have killed that patient.

Sue the entire company? I wouldn't take it that far, but I can see how this constitutes as a valid response, but I would take action on the individuals who failed to follow procedure and caused this incident.

I just mean the doctors that put the patients at risk. .
