What should be done about shootings in America?

If gun control shouldn't be implemented, what should be done instead?

A few facts: There are around 12,000 murders by firearm in America every year. The US murder rate is 3.9, which is comparable to third-world countries. There are around 500 deaths caused by accidents with a gun involved. There are also around 70,000 people shot every year.  It may or may not be relevant to mention that 20,000 commit suicide by gun each year - I don't think so myself, because I believe they would have found a different way was this not an option, but you decide for yourself.

I think the solution is more guns, not fewer. Give those prone to shooting more guns and let them shoot each other. Eventually, their numbers will fall and we will have a corresponding decrease in shootings. Problem solved. That was easy.

You're welcome.

Do guns ownership improve society if so how ?

Is America more violent as a society than Europe ?

If guns make societies better why do we in European countries not introduce them so as to improve our societies ?

Even the beat policeman over here does not carry a gun and I find the prospect of the average citizen carrying truly scary

There are 320 million people in America and God knows how many cross the border into the U.S. each year. We have plenty of people. We can afford to lose a fraction of a percent every year. We cannot keep everyone safe and rush hour traffic demands some form of population control ;)

What about children that are murdered? Around 1500 a year, that's 4 every day.

Bullet proof vests ;)

That's 4 future drivers a day that won't contribute to rush hour traffic later.

Just a quick clarification here.......

That stat you just cited is a very misleading one.

Why?

Because.....the stats people who put out that bit about 5000 or so "children" being killed by guns each year are considering 17 y.o. black gangbangers as children. Since they are technically under 18. And make no mistake, it is that demographic that comprises the vast majority of that number of murdered kids.

So it's not like little innocent 10 year olds playing in their backyard with their toys are being gunned down. Those nigger gangbangers are, by and large, adults engaging in Street crime.

Just so ya know, since you don't live here and all.

We should disarm every citizen, create bubbles to insulate everyone. While we are at it we should get rid of automobiles (35k deaths, 2.3 million i jured, 1600 kids dead).

Is your point that there shouldn't anything be done about this problem because there are other problems as well?

while the shooting of innocent people is tragic, im afraid that i do not think much can be done about it .maybe the only thing that can be done is to be nicer to people so they are happy and dont become shooters later .but we already have unconstitutional restrictions on guns and that has not helped .

I don't think that really can be seen as an actual attempt to lower gun crime. The restrictions you speak of have only been implemented in certain states, and since you are free to travel within the states, it's not really that big a problem to get your hands on a gun.

Crime and murder have been decreased in other countries, I don't see why USA is so much different that some of those successful attempts can't at least inspire to make a difference there too.

Crime and murder have not been reduced in other countries. Gun crime is replaced by knife crime.

"I don't think that really can be seen as an actual attempt to lower gun crime." agreed, i dont really think thats much of an attempt, just all i can come up with .

"The restrictions you speak of have only been implemented in certain states, and since you are free to travel within the states, it's not really that big a problem to get your hands on a gun." true, but i think those restrictions should not spread to other states--they should be repealed because they are unconstitutional .if you want to attempt to reduce shootings you have to repeal the 2nd amendment .otherwise most restrictions on guns are unconstitutional .and even if guns were banned, im not sure that even then it would be hard to get your hands on a gun .

"Crime and murder have been decreased in other countries, I don't see why USA is so much different that some of those successful attempts can't at least inspire to make a difference there too." the USA is different because of the 2nd amendment, which says the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed .unless it is repealed, any gun control is unconstitutional .

Fix the economy. If the economy was better for poor people they wouldn't need to turn to crime.

You should really understand that gun control is all about an attempt to disarm the law abiding citizen. Gun control will never affect the criminals. No law written by Government is ever meant to be followed by criminals that's why they are criminals.

CHICAGO — With September nearly over and three months still left in the year, Chicago has had more than 3,100 shooting victims — 300 more than the number of people shot in all of 2015.

There have been 2,588 shooting incidents so far this year resulting in 3,173 people being shot, according to data compiled by DNAinfo from the Chicago Police Department and Illinois State Police. There were 2,327 incidents and 2,843 people shot in all of last year.

Are the criminals disarmed in Chicago ? Do the criminals abide by the gun laws in Chicago ?

Make guns more accessible. With more guns, the more protection people will have. Let's say you aren't armed and some armed guy storms into your house. The only form of protection is the table because you could hide under it. If you had a gun, you could protect yourself.

Do you want to hide or do you want to protect yourself?

You tell me.
