God. But not because God personally chose to destroy it. Instead it will be because some religious zealout is determined to martyr his handful he considers true believers while simultaneously punishing everyone else with death and suffering. Someone religious will push the doomsday button believing it's for everyone's good. Side: God

But the star we refer to as our sun will not begin it's death throes and red giant phase for another 500 million years! The odds are therefore overwhelming that the genus known as homo sapiens will have long ago met it's demise when that epoch arrives. You mention of an interstellar or even intra-stellar object destroying life on our planet is, however, a worthy speculation. As it has happened at least once before. The asteroid that killed the dinosaurs some six mya when it struck the bottom of the Yucatan peninsula was only six miles in diameter! Even our own solar system, which comprises but a speck of the cosmos, contains thousands of asteroids and meteors of that size and larger. Too..as of now we have no viable method of stopping or even reflecting a life threatening NEO. That stands for Near Earth Object. The movie Armageddon was pure fantasy insofar as the method they used to stop the asteroid. But the fatal threat the movie depicted was very real! Thanks. Side: human race

Since there is no God we can rule out that absurd option right out of the box. There have been five major extinctions in the history of our planet. What will cause the Sixth? My bet is that it will be of a viral cause. Most of you guys have no idea how many people and other animals have died from viral infection throughout history. How about........four times as many as killed in ALL the wars?? Tell ya what....read two books for me. Then we will talk. The Human race will destroy this planet, definitely and its obvious, we are over populated, we are depleting our natural resources and we are polluting our air and water which is kind of vital for this planet to survive. Human do not benefit this planet in any way. Side: human race
