What will happen now that the Democrats have lost their super majority?
The state of Massachusetts has decided that they would rather go against their liberal tendencies and vote in a Republican.
This brings the senate to a total of 59 Democrats(2 are independents) and 41 Republicans. They can no longer bypass a fillibuster without reconciliation.

finally an other conservative in this site. i mean who do these people think they are? trying to pass amendments like the fairness act. but I'm not surprised that some order is coming back to are leaders. when the government swings to far to one side, (in this case left) its ganna swing back to the other side, we just as conservatives, need to make sure we don't go to right, or we'll have done just as bad as the liberals. 3

With the Democrats losing the super majority and filibuster proof, the Democrats will see dramatic changes of seats in the House and maybe a few seats in the Senate unless the White House and Congress can quickly change of the opinion of America particuarly Independents. Overall, most people would agree that Obama's overall first year grade is a C while 111th Congress is a D. Also, it will kill Health Care Reform and any other major legislation within the next year. I think it becomes increasingly likely that the Neutron Bomb will be exploded. Vice President Joe Biden said at a Florida fundraiser Sunday that the 60-seat threshold for passing legislation in the Senate put a dangerous new roadblock in the way of American government. "As long as I have served ... I've never seen, as my uncle once said, the constitution stood on its head as they've done. This is the first time every single solitary decisions has required 60 senators," Biden said. "No democracy has survived needing a supermajority." The Neutron Bomb is a parliamentary technique that could end filibusters. 2

Brilliant! After this year's mid-term elections you will be arguing for filibuster. Especially when the dems.,far left, can't find 41 candidates to represent them in the US Senate. In your own words: "Don't be an asshat!" But, if you think that that precedent is necessary then so be it, yet, when it bites you and your party in the ass, don't bitch; for filibuster is anti-democratic. (Maybe this way moderate republicans and democrats can undo the damage of the far left by 51 votes.) Side: Get rid of filibuster

I take a more cautious approach. The Massachusetts' healthcare program is one of the templates used for illustrating the nationwide healthcare reform. The recent election can be said to be a statement against "liberal ideas", especially healthcare reform, if and only if the voters de-liberalize their current healthcare in Massachusetts and transform it back to what it used to be prior to 2006. If they don't do that, then there's no real justification for it being a point against Obama, and certainly less a point against healthcare reform in general. Side: Get rid of filibuster

What will they do? Well hopefully now the Dems will realize if you can't win a seat in a state where the previous senator who's name is Kennedy and the health care bill has it's name after it. Even Massachusetts the bluest state of all can recognize that is awesome and shows that the we the people still make the final vote. Side: Get rid of filibuster
