Aiming to be successful is very different from fulfilling a dream, for a few reasons: 1) Unless your dream is to be successful, your dream is just a passion. Often times, a dream is called a dream because you know it will take a while to fulfill it. Aiming to become successful at something provides you with more meaning. For example, if you aim to ace SAT Literature, you are sure that this is something that you are going to complete. When you do end up completely dominating the test with a 100%, you know that you can then make extra targets at acing other tests. Fulfilling a dream will only convince you to work longer to complete it. 2) Success is objective, while dreams are subjective. Feeling that you want to fulfill a dream will not actually allow you to fulfill it. On the other hand, if you have a specific assignment or a specific test or aim to complete, you will shroud out your personal opinions and what not and just go to it with a focused mindset. Targeting goals is much better than feeling good about goals. 3) Do you want to be incredible at doing things, or do you want to be okay in accomplishing various things? That is precisely what the difference is between success and dreams. For instance, suppose you aim to make it into the top five of the ACM competition. Chances are, you will feel victorious when you do reach the top five, and you will suddenly see lots of other programming opportunities. You might have the chance to popularize the app store with your own addicting creation. You may be invited to an elite university to help professors with their research. There is also a chance that you will be accepted to a very prestigious institution for your education. Success at these chances will only lead to more opportunities, until you become well-known as an expert of computer science. If you do not succeed, you will not meet as many opportunities. However, if you do not meet your dreams, not only will you not meet chances, but you would be crushed mentally knowing that you could not stay passionate until the end. Side: Be successful

most people measure success in terms of money which is not an accurate measurement in long terms. i suppose that when you become more efficient thats when you become successful. in turn efficiency can only increase with dedication to your field which is hard to put in if you dont love what you do. so just follow your dreams.
