When Trump speaks to foreign heads of state, are WE entitled to KNOW what was said?

The best way to show that the people and the country are not being taken advantage of, and there is no abuse of power, or nefarious actions being carried out, is through as full transparency as is practical.

For me, this would apply to all presidents; and would like to see things like all meetings (public and private) recorded, subject to confidentiality review, and released at a later date. There is much more to my thoughts, more caveats, exception and details than this single paragraph covers: but this is a good summary for brevity.

Open government is of major importance today; especially necessary when both the left and right are losing faith in their governments ability or willingness to work for the benefit of the people.

I felt that all previous presidents; including Obama fell so far short of how transparent a government should be, it's laughable. With the security apparatus and functioning of government using "we can't tell you for security reasons" almost as a catch all for "we don't want to tell you".

There are most assuredly things that the Government, and Trump need to be able to keep secret: intelligence sources, interactions with foreign governments, etc: it's necessary for the functioning of government. But when information is with-held, the people need the confidence that it is being withheld for good reason; rather than being with-held because your elected representative doesn't want you to know.

In terms of recent events, the trust in the Trump Administration is massively eroding: fueled by lying about meetings and interactions with foreign agents: sometimes multiple lies about multiple interactions, and the optics that the administration is deliberately trying to lie or obfuscate about what it's actions have been.

Given this erosion, it can't be said that Trump deserves just as much leeway in terms of opacity as he did when he first started: the American People are entitled to more openness and transparency than they did when he started because of his own actions.

This includes interactions with heads of states or foreign governments: especially those directly tied up in issues facing the country right now, such as Putin.

Of course we aren't entitled to know. We weren't entitled to know for every president before him. Why would it change for Trump?

Government secrets are different than secret governments. When we aren't at peace we need the government to at least keep military things secret, right?

Like, for instance if, after discussions the U.K. and the U.S.A, decide to launch a preemptive strike against North Korea's nuclear installations?

Yes, I feel WE should be informed in advance of such an action.

I think there may be a downside to that master proposal but I can't just think what it may be, can you?

Oh no, of course not. High level confidential communications happen all the time by international leaders. The only people who know Trump's every word are Trump and his Putin puppetmaster.
