When does life begin?
I believe that life begins when the baby has brainwaves. Scientifically speaking, brainwaves are how you tell if someone is alive.

Actually brainwaves aren't how you determine death. There's a lot of confusion there as well. This article is pretty interesting. http://io9.com/5915339/ 1

Incredibly hard to say. Depends on what you determine to be alive. Actually, it really depends on the roots of a persons definition of "life". I see life beginning when the organism begins to develop. However, this stance does slightly disregard sentience which may trouble some people. I can tell you 100%...if a doctor had a patient with no brain activity but he was absolutely sure that it would have brain activity in a few weeks now (same as a fetus) he would NOT say that patient is dead. Ah forget it. This is way to complicated for you. Just ban me rather than replying with "life starts with brain waves, fact". 1

The conventional use of 'age' is normally in terms of birth (hence birthday), yes, but the technical use of age could extend to conception if ones goes by the view of the concieved being a 'person'. A pro-life extremist would probably argue using this point, so it isn's as simple as how you put it. Just because something is a convention doesn't mean it is always technically right. |
