Smaller, less energy hungry, cheaper games (e.g. second-hand gamecube titles), web browser, intuitive, physically stimulating (real-world modeling using motion sensors), ideal social tool for harmonizing mixed crowds (gets people interacting without conversation gulfs). Side: Wii

Big one here, also very commonly asked. I personally go with the Xbox 360. It really depends on what kind of games you play. If you play family oriented games, then go with Wii. If you like more serious games, then Xbox 360. 360 also has a ton of shooters, so if your into shooters (like I am) then go with the 360. I personally think the Wii is a gimmicky gamecube 1.5. It doesn't have the horsepower to hold out for long. It's momentum will not last long, simply because the games that are coming out for it are games that are way too similar to the games that are included with the Wii, a ton of sports games (more than the average amount on each console), some silly games (Balloon Pop? You serious?). Sure there are some better exclusives coming out for it, but how many Mario's are we going to get until we get sick of the brand along with Super Smash Brothers? Sure they might be fun, but they are all just the same games with a few new features. Any games that do come out for both 360 and Wii, it will be dumbed down in both controls and graphics/sound (Guitar Hero & Mono anyone?). If you want to get your parents or grandparents into gaming, then definitely the Wii. It will be easy for them to pick up and probably enjoy. Overall, I just can't take the Wii seriously, it's too kiddy for me. I enjoy the exclusives for the 360. I enjoy my HD with 5.1, in ALL games. It's not that I only go for HD visuals and 5.1, it is just overall a great feature to have in each game. It immerses you far more than 480p with Dolby Pro Logic... Another reason, if I want to sit back and relax after a hard day of work or if I'm out with some friends, I don't want to be swinging my arms around to play a game. I'd rather sit back, put my feet up and relax. You can do that with the 360. The multiplayer is great for the 360, the lobbies are great (the other people playing it, not so great). The friend list is great compared to the Wii's buddy codes. My gamertag is C1trousMexican, not some 12 digit number that I have to memorize (remember ICQ?). I see a friend playing Call of Duty 4. Great, let's join. Pop the game in, select his name, Join game. Voila, I'm in his game. Not as easy to do with the Wii (if the game even supports multiplayer) from what I hear. I'm done for now, getting late and I'm tired. I'll continue debating if people respond to my comment :) BTW, I'm not a 360 fanboy. I just choose my investments wisely. If I had to pick between Wii & PS3, it would be PS3. Wii would always be a last selection for me. ---- Side: XBox

This really depends on what your gaming goals are. The systems are very different in not just their execution, but also their usage. The Wii is a great console if your goal is to have something that non-gamers can easily pick up and play, and if you plan on playing in more of a party/social setting. The Xbox is better if you plan on doing a lot of online gaming and/or plan on playing more "serious" games like shooters and RPGs. I have both consoles, and up until about 3 months ago I didn't do a lot of gaming. However, now I find that I'm enjoying a range of games from Mass Effect and GTA IV to silly Xbox Live games like Brain Challenge, UNO, and Marble Madness thanks to the 360. I play with the Wii occasionally, but it's usually when I have people over that aren't big gamers, and we tend to stick with the Wii Sports games or, more recently, the new Mari Kart. I also use the Xbox as a Media Center, streaming movies and TV shows from my computer and my roommates' computers to my HDTV. I've also been using it as my primary DVD player, and occasionally downloading HD movies from Xbox Live. The Wii, unfortunately, can't do any of those things. I'm definitely getting more value out of my 360. If I had to choose one, that would be it. Side: XBox

I own both consoles, but I give major points to the 360. Honestly, I haven't played the Wii in weeks. After the Smash Bros Brawl fun wore off a bit that was pretty much it for a while. Still, it depends what type of games you enjoy. The Wii Sports package initially sold me on the Wii, but since that there has been very little that has been appealing. It's a party system, just like Guitar Hero, and DDR before that. It's fun with a few people for a little while, but has very little lasting appeal. Not to mention how awkward the controllers sometimes get. I make all these arguments as a 20 year old gamer, though, and the titles that I enjoy on the 360 are GTA IV, Mass Effect, The Orange Box, Assassin's Creed, BioShock, Halo 3, etc. Side: XBox

The Xbox has alot more playable games, and thus a lot more longeivity. The Wii is a gamecube with a poorly implemented gimic (i.e. the wii controller that's about as accurate as a pie catapult). The majority of games on the Wii are shovelwarez aimed at people that don't know anything about computer games. Furthermore the Wii doesn't even have a hard drive capable of storing downloadable content. Xbox is a real console, the wii is a like really expensive family board game, for the most part. Side: XBox
