Which has cured more people Science or Religions

I saw the killing one and I think this would be more accurate.

The aim of an entire category of science is medical its devoted entirely to the development of medication so of course science that's one of its functions unlike religion who's focus is to save souls and provide moral structure to people's life's . That being said the development of many cures and treatments to majore desiesses have been funded in large amounts by charity's run by religious organizations.

religion who's focus is to save souls and provide moral structure

I've never seen empirical proof for soul also "moral structure" so people without religions simply kills and eats each other? You need bronze age myth collection to not to kill random people? If so th you need help from professional.

hat being said the development of many cures and treatments to major desiesses have been funded in large amounts by charity's run by religious organizations.

...runned by same religious organisations that banned science for 900 years, started pretty much all wars ever happen? Really?

First of all I never said there was no morality without religion I just meant that its a source of morals for many people.

And wars are caused for many reasons religion yes but also, land, resources (the most common cause), superiority complex, etc.

the fact of the matter is the majority of the charity's funding research for cures and treatments for cancer (all forms), diabetes, aids, etc. are run by religious organizations primarily the Vatican.

Norman Borlaug, the man who saved a billion lives from starvation.

Borlaug received his Ph.D. in plant pathology and genetics from the University of Minnesota in 1942. He took up an agricultural research position in Mexico, where he developed semi-dwarf, high-yield, disease-resistant wheat varieties.

During the mid-20th century, Borlaug led the introduction of these high-yielding varieties combined with modern agricultural production techniques to Mexico, Pakistan, and India. As a result, Mexico became a net exporter of wheat by 1963. Between 1965 and 1970, wheat yields nearly doubled in Pakistan and India, greatly improving the food security in those nations.[5] These collective increases in yield have been labeled the Green Revolution, and Borlaug is often credited with saving over a billion people worldwide from starvation.

Religion itself, I think the most it has done in terms of 'curing' people is by telling them comforting fantasies so that they can go on in life. It almost certainly has no tangible effect through 'faith healing' or 'prayer', that isn't a placebo effect.

In terms of people cured and lives saved, science wins without question in my opinion. I could probably find more sources, but this is probably my best one.

I don't see Satan as a bad guy, according to bible he killed "just" 10 people, god about several millions ... so god is a mass murder ...and mass murders usually aren't truth speakers, so it looks like that the Satan is actually the good guy.

Side: Science/medicine

God create hell,so we could prove God that we are worth going to heaven, why didnt he/she/whatever just invent perfect people and place them straight in heaven, doesn't trust it's own invention, maybe religion is a placebo effect, your told it's the spirit but it was a sugar pill.

Religion has cured many people of their sanity.

See, now I don't know if you're a theist or atheist. If you meant that religion has made people insane then yes, tis true. If you're just terrible at spelling and meant religion had cured people of their insanity then.......

I am utterly disapointed at how people classify the healings of Religion as something physical and illogical.

Tell me, when in doubt, where do people flee?

When in chaos, who does people turn to?

Heck, how many prisoners, soldiers and even patients turns to the cross?

Religion was never meant to heal the physical being, but the patients mental state. People call it as "God Drug" but is there a problem in seeking comfort?

I can't disagree that mentally people find religion helpful, but the question is which has cured more. Science has helped both mental and physical ailments. And continues to find more cures. Religion only has mental advantages, and it won't work on all people.

Aparently, you do not realize that just like Science, Religion has grown and changed to adapt itself to the demands and needs of the society.

True that science can provide medicines for mental illness, but can you provide comfort for elders who are about to die? Will you tell them that they will die without anyone to remember them? That nothing awaits them in their deaths?

We cant say that religious only has mental advantages, as science is also created bby humans who in past where used to believe in religious things, when science was not existing , this religious beliefs was helping us, so how we can compare science and religion, we cant compare anything, we can just respect things because every one has given us many things and we have acknowledge it. saurbaby....its both..helpful...for me.

"seeking comfort" in bronze age bullshit instead of facing reality... yeah I don't think so...it kills you.

During floods and hurricanes there are churches full of dead men, women and children who were "seeking comfort" instead of building rafts or waving on helicopters...

Seeking fantasy to escape reality is a normal action to take if you want to protect yourself, from yourself. Its basic psychology!

Also, mind if you could give me a link for that news that you gave?

The 'Cross'? Who said Christianity, we're talking bout religion in general. And yes people turn to religion, but does it actually cure them of illnesses?! No, it doesn't, because there is no God. Science throughout the ages has helped heal people with methods that work! You can "seek comfort" all you won't through religion, you won't find and real help! Only a delusion made up by your mind because you can't cope with the fact that, in truth, there is no God.

sigh

The main use of religion is to provide sanctuary to those who are confused and suffering mentally. Can science cure you out of problems such as the fear of meaningless death, breaking family and fading sanity?

You can try alcohol but, your old enough to know its a bad idea

Heres the proof

While it is inspiring to say that facing your problems is better than escaping, you have failed to understand that the very reason why people are depressed is because they cannot escape from it

Well In middle school when I was bullied relentlessly and struggled with depression as a result I took comfort in my faith and pride in my performance in my dutys at church helping teach our Sunday school program or CCD as we called it.

Zeus comes by every thursday and brings me soup amd sometimes a toasted ham and cheese sandwich. Sometimes Jesus comes too and sits at the table with some Hindu gods and Horus and Osirus rarely come because the hate Jesus. Yep religions/magic is truly gonna save you. Especially since they never reveal themselves or have any proof that they are there.

Both science and religions can cure people who suffer from diseases. However,in my opinion, if you always have faith and confidence in God, miracles will happen even without any high tech medical devices or medicines.Science did cure people but at the same time, science killed people too.We should not always depend on science, because nothing is greater than God.
