XBox360 has well over double the install base of the PS3. This traditionally makes a system last much longer because new games continue to be released for it even after the next generation of hardware comes out.

Developers need to make money on their games, and the larger the install base, the larger the potential sales. This is going to cause a gradual pattern of software drifting to the XBox360 (we've already seen it with square) which will stifle sales on the PS3, causing a self-reinforcing loop, eventually leaving PS3 owners high and dry near the end of this console generation.

This pattern has repeated 4 times in history with the PS2, the PS1, the SNES and NES systems. All destroying their competitors and being the only systems to still recieve software late in the system generation cycle.

(We can ignore the wii in this generation because it's not a direct competitor with the 360 or PS3; It can't play the same titles due to savere power limitations. It's found it's own Niche if you will. The Wii may likely outlast the 360 and ps3, but that remains to be seen)

You're confusing a storage medium with a display format. Blu-ray describes a type of disc that allows for large amounts of data being stored on a disc the same size as a DVD. HD on the other hand is a format for displaying media. Blu-ray discs often hold HD data on them. The Xbox 360 was the first console to be capable of outputting HD media.

Yeah, you know the thing is, I've owned a 360 since the first year it came out and I've never had so much as a skipped frame. Overheating problems existed in that first wave, but as I said Microsoft knows from experience that everything and anything can go wrong so having the ability to easily diagnose a problem isn't something to be frowned upon. Sure the red ring is a major problem, but Microsoft has the ability to determine what is wrong and repair it. As I speak I'm dealing with not one but two Sony products that just died without any indication as to why, or how, and Sony wants me to pay them $200 just to find out what's wrong. Ridiculous.

Xbox360 for the time being, although the graphics are comparable to PS3. my main reasons for liking xbox 360, mundane as it may sound.... you are able to play pirated games to work on your cracked console for $2 each. This support is not provided in PS3

I don't know what things are like in the States, but over here in the UK the Xbox has more exclusives than the PS3. It's all about the games at the end of the day!

I'm personally yet to see side by side screenshots that show any graphical advantage for the PS3 over the Xbox. In fact, I often find the Xbox screenshots clearer, brighter and sharper.

There's a lot of misinformation in this debate. People aren't quite understanding the difference between a screen resolution and a media format, or understanding why resolution alone is nothing to go by.

The images displayed by a 360 are always sharper and brighter. The PS3 over anti-aliases in my opinion, leading to dark and blurry images. The cell technology used in the PS3, whist potentially superior to the 360, just isn't being used to its potential by game developers.

Everyone is basically saying that graphics are the main reason they will buy a system/console. No one looks at the operating system or Life Span. The Xbox 360 has a 3.2 GHz PowerPC Xenon CPU, The PS3 has a 3.2 GHz Cell Broadband Engine. Looking at that, they are both basically the same, however, The 360 has better games and more multiplayer compatibility.

When it comes down to it its all about the games and Xbox defiantly has more better games. Xbox has Halo, Gears, Fable 2, and other great games. Now PS3 does support Blue Ray DVDs which is great but it can't beat the Netflix on 360. Then there's the multiplayer experience. There's no way that anyone can compete with the Xbox Live players.

I've found that online PS3 players are a bunch of small children that like to yell. XBox has better online playability, but PS3 has the best construction all around.

Look lets look at it like this the ps3 and the 360 are game systems so what should we look at the games? what dose the PS3 have about 4 good games as for for the 360 all we have is fucking good games halo3, GOW2, viva pinata, fable 2, the exclusive content for GTA4, Guilty Gear 2: Overture, Fuzion Frenzy 2, banjo kazooie nuts and bolts, halo3: ODST, Halo wars, Crackdown, 1 vs 100. Believe it or not, I prefer the xbox 360. I agree that both of the systems are great, but xbox goes above and beyond for me and many other gamers.

The top argument that ps3 lovers use is: " The playstation 3 gets free wifi, you suckers have to pay lol. " This is an argument that I'd have thought only kids who still use their fathers' credit cards would use, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The thing is, xbox live is only about $4.17 per month. Which means that all you have to do is pull out a little 5 dollar bill out of your pocket every month. Which is funny because those same kids saying those things tend to spend more money on snacks and '5' gum than anything else.

The second most popular argument is, " At least the ps3 lasts longer than a month before dying. " I find this quite comical, because not only is the ps3 more than capable of the same problem, but also the xbox 360 has a free three year warranty if this happens, and has been much improved to where it has almost the same odds of a ps3 doing that.

And then we have the heat issue. It is true, that the xbox was a very hot system when it first came out, but now I'd feel comfortable leaving mine on all night next to a propane tank.

Let's see what else there is…Oh yes, the games themselves! As the ps3 does have some signature games such as the modern warfare and call of duty series, it doesn't include some very popular series' such as the halo series. Some kids, in their arrogance, say halo and other xbox only exclusives suck, when they have never even played them. What I say is: " Enough with the excuses, it has been proven that the xbox has more hit series than any other console. "

Now let's talk about features. Although everybody loves that glossy finish, the xbox has a better graphics card, and it's by more than just that tiny 1% kids claim it to be. While it's true that the ps3 has built in wifi, the xbox has a better online system with less kids who just worked up the courage to swear at a stranger spamming messages at you and other people. Here's the part where some people stop reading, blu-Ray! The ps3 is equiped with a blu ray player, which has dropped so much in price that my friend got the same type of blu Ray player AND an xbox for less than the price of a ps3.

Finally, to top it off, I'm going to say that the ps3, being the newer system, has more bugs. The playstation 3, as owners may know, experienced an extreme malfunction this year due to the leap year bug. Because the clock had not adjusted on the ps3's to suit the servers, people were not able to even get online, which for most is the reason for buying a console such as these.

I know I wrote a lot so I'm going to stop debating now and give some backround info on me before closing.

i have 2 ps3's 1 60GB and one 160GB and they have both worked with our freezing or messing up. they have not scratch any discs and it have not overheated once. i was able to connect to any network wirelessely and i didn't have to move a big stupid power supply around. the ps3's are really quiet.

I don't have a PS2, I have a PS3 and the PS3 is not backwards compatible so PS2 games won't play on it and I think that Fable only comes for the X-Box 360.

Also, when I was younger I used to hack programs and O/Ss but that is time consuming and it gets old after a while. Especially when you have the money to just buy it and be done with it.

I like the PlayStation 3's controls better. I also love Playstation Home, its a great communication tool and a good time-killer.

ive owned both a ps3 ad a 360. my ps3 broke down at the beginnig of the summer, then instead of replacing one right now i went out an bought a 360 i have had my 360 for less then two monhts and it broke twice already. but my ps3 lasted almost 2 years. the ps3 has more offline features, better gaming experiences and on top of those reason u can have more players playing the ps3 offline then any other gaming system. sony is alway working on making the ps3 better by making different models but microsofht has only made 4 different versions of the 360 onlike sony which made 5 different versions of the ps3.

so i would say if u were to buy a seven generation system buy the ps3

OK this is really straight forward. I own all 3 consoles (PS3, 360, Wii)PS3 is far superior. First off, the controller is rated the best and easiest to use. Secondly, it comes fully equipped.
