I'm going to go with 'Thank You.' Which isn't to devalue please by any means, but... There are circumstances where saying 'please' isn't appropriate. One CAN ask his or her employees/subordinates to please do something, but doing so can undermine ones authority as well. In some cases, this is acceptable, but in others cases not so much. In these circumstances, it is preferable to tell/order ones employees/subordinate to do something and expect that they do it- and thank them afterwards. One can almost always thank someone for having done something, but asking someone to do something (with or without using please) is not always appropriate or desirable. Side: Thank you
Both are equally important, but I'll write my argument on the 'Thank you' side since I tend to say 'thank you' more than I say please. I believe that in life, it's important to show that you're grateful for things therefore it's important to say 'thank you' whenever someone helps you or gives you something. Side: Thank you
