I'd claim that ignorance is worse. The more well informed one is on a particular subject, it becomes more likely that said person will care about that very subject. It is a mutual perpetuation. - Though I do know a fair amount of people whom are idiots yet care about very specific things (I'm ufrade them soshulists 're gonna take over th'nation!) Side: Ignorance
I agree with your statement that stupidity speaks for itself, but stupidity and ignorance are two completely different things as far as I'm concerned. As I said before, the cycle is perpetual - as I've said before, in the absence of stupidity, the ignorant can always be informed, unless of course they're too apathetic to WANT to be informed. I don't really mind ignorance until I find out somebody's too bullheaded to change it. Also, for argument's sake in the future, I'd refrain from talking about how there's a problem with people 'acting better than they are', and then make a contrived statement like 'but I don't expect ignorant people to understand'. apathy you still know what it is happening you just choose to shield yourself away from that pain or whatever. you choose not to feel. with ignorance you simply dont know and i have always been a strong believer of "ignorance is bliss" you cant care or feel or understand something you know nothing about. like children, life is new to them every touch every smell is new. and the older they grow the more the pain the feel and see. i mean how many depressed toddlers do you know? ignorance allows ppl to live their lives without the interfering of problems. most problems that arent controllable, a sickness, a death, an accident, etc. apathy you know. and i think that most ppl who have apathy are just putting up a front. or making it seem like they dont care because they dont want to care they would rather not know be ignorant to the subject...but that is from my experiences Side: apathy
Ignorance, while dangerous, is a condition that can be altered - apathy very often is not. Ironically enough, ignorance is not necessarily dangerous until it is paired with apathy - if a person does not know something, it doesn't truly become dangerous until he lacks the desire to learn. While it is true that ignorance is a great way to spread misinformation, apathy is also a great way to make certain that nobody disputes it. There will always be ignorance that seeks to be enlightened - the same cannot be said of apathy. The ignorant can always be informed - it is only when they are too apathetic to care that they no longer ARE informed. Side: apathy
