Which of the seven deadly sins do you think are worst and least bad?

Though the bible claims to recognize no sin as having dominion over another, we as people are not subject to those laws, and can (and often do) form an opinion on things whether they concen us or not. So in your opinion which of the Seven Deadly Sins, do you think is the worst, and which do you think is the least bad, and why.

Here they are for reference, in no particular order.

The seven deadly sins in female form

Vanity: Excessive pride in or admiration of one's own appearance or achievements.

Gluttony: To eat and or drinks excessively or voraciously.

Avarice: Extreme greed for wealth or material gain.

Sloth: Reluctance to work or make an effort; laziness

Envy: A feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else's possessions, qualities, or luck.

Wrath: vengeance or punishment Add New Argument

If I am allowed to conjoin two sins I think envy and greed together make the worst pair. Actually they are kind of two sides to the same phenomenon, as far as I can tell. There can be no envy without some excessive form of neediness, and greed often entails longing for something that is perceived to be better. Both of them are based around a core of dissatisfaction with life. They fuel misery and addiction, they fuel class conflict and hate, they fuel polarization and even war.

I think the worst is wrath, for pretty obvious reasons, and the least worst is Pride since it's actually good to have some pride in what you do.

I actually think that Pride is the worst, since it alters your perception of what wrongdoings that you have already committed and can directly compromise your other morals.

I would call lust the least dangerous, and also the least evil.

Wrath explicitly states what not to do, wrath is anger, and very often anger leads to malicious acts out of anger. Lust I wouldn't bother with since it's pretty easy to avoid, but pride is just feeling over confidence in your own ability. No harm there, unless coupled with one of the others.

If I were to choose one, even though the bible never identifies anything as the seven deadly sins, I would choose greed. The power of grees leads to coerced methods of obtaining what an individual may desire regardless of the content of the desired object.

I think wrath is the worst and lust is the lesser of the evils.

Why?

Wrath is extreme anger. Nothing good comes from that. Lust is a common 'sin' that everyone is guilty of. It's just the desire for someone (or something). The only time it is truly wrong, is when it leads to something like adultery or pedophilia.

Worst is wrath because it is violent and destructive and almost always harmfull. Least bad is probably envy. Whats so bad about seeing someone who is doing well for themself and desiring to be like them? It usually sparks a drive to succeed to aquire that goal

Vanity is the worst, and Gluttony is the least bad.

I can't take it when people feel they are any better than anyone else, and personally I couldn't care less if you eat or drink is extreme amounts.

What about the danger of over eating?

What about the fact that there self centeredness won't eventually hurt anyone. Vs more serious ones like wrath that foster aggression?

Eating much is bad .. but I just don't care if someone does that him or herself.

I mean, an arrogant person or a lazy person can affect my life. If I have a lazy partner, who wants me to do all the work, then his attitude affects me. If I have an arrogant partner, he will think he is better than me thus lowering my self esteem.

If I have a fat partner .. the fact he is fat or eating a lot doesn't really affect anyone's life but their own.

About the second thing - Of course it is bad to hurt someone, but in my opinion I would rather be kicked in the leg than looked down upon.

You are missing one, and those are not the original names, are they? Maybe there are more names but these are the one's I was taught:

Lust

Gluttony

Greed

Sloth

Wrath

Envy

Pride

Yea, lust is missing since it's too long, and part of the definition for wrath.

As for the names, well since they aren't actually mentioned in the bible they were a separate branch, translated and re-translated by other individuals, so really although the way you heard it might be the most famous (or infamous lol) there isn't really a 'right' one.

Pride is obviously the worse. It can cause you to commit some of the other deadly sins.

Which is why it's called the worst of the seven deadly sins...

An example:

When you are so enveloped in pride that when someone says something that goes against your beliefs/pride it can cause you to "lash out" at them. I.E wrath..

Lust is lesser...though it's a high possibility you can contract STD when you can't control your Lust....

Jealousy would be the worst and gluttony would be the least bad.
