Beatty says that "America can't afford to have Barack Obama and John Kerry bringing their remakes of the same, tired failed liberal policies of the past to Washington at a time when so much is at stake." First of all, what tired and failed liberal policies is he talking about? The last liberal president we had--Bill Clinton--was president during the longest economic growth period in U.S. history, created millions of new jobs and kept our country out of major military conflict. Second of all, it isn't like the conservative policies he is endorsing have done a whole lot of good. Quite the contrary. These policies which have ruled Washington for the last eight years have taken our economy from a record surplus to a record deficit, resulted in a more jobs lost than gained, gotten us into a disastrous and extremely costly war, assaulted our Constitutional rights and put serious strains on our credibility as a world leader, among other things. Many would argue that these policies are precisely why there is so much at stake in this election and it is time our country took a change of direction. The link below provides you with some insight into Beatty stances on many important issues. John Kerry isn't perfect, but he isn't offering to continue many of the same failed policies that have brought our country to where it is today--a direction that, according to recent polls, 80% of Americans aren't happy with.

John Kerry (D) finds himself facing not only a worthy competitor in Jeff Beatty but he also has a challenger from within his own party, Ed O'Reilly (D). O'Reilly is running on the gamble that the Democratic voters of Massachusetts feel that their Senator is "out of touch" with their concerns and their needs. "He's not a Massachusetts Senator he doesn't fight for the people of Massachusetts he's more concerned with his national image and in my opinion in promoting his own political career." O'Reilly won 22.5% of the votes during the state convention in June, which earned him a spot on the Democratic ballot. Nonetheless, Kerry continues to hold a considerable lead in the polls and, by sheer voter awareness, I think its safe to say the incumbent Senator has little to worry about come November. O' Reilly will undoubtedly continue to poke at Kerry's "national image", yet he has little to proof to guarantee his effectiveness as Massachusetts' Senator. "I'm running on my record I feel I've accomplished a great deal and there's more yet to be done and I think the positions of responsibility and seniority I have in the Senate allow me to help move things," says John Kerry. Sen. John Kerry (D) and his Democratic challenger Ed O'Reilly, faced off last Friday in their first confrontation before the primary votes on September 16th at the WBZ studios hosted by political analyst Jon Keller. The debate was a mere 30 minutes of covered material in which each candidate was given one minute to respond to Keller's questions. The questions hit on issues such as the Iraq war (which Kerry admitted regret that he had believed the Bush Administration in 2002 and voted for attacking Iraq,) the energy crisis (which Kerry touted as being the first in the 2004 primaries to address energy independence,) and global climate change (to which O'Reilly revealed his "Renew America" plan and attacked Kerry for his inefficiency in passing any legislation - an attack to which Kerry responded, "You're going to have to win the votes to change anything.") Yet, inevitably, Kerry is facing a whirlwind critique of his political ambitions that have a resonance with Massachusetts's voters after he missed so many votes during the 2004 primaries. According to O'Reilly, "I think it’s very clear John Kerry has his eye on the horizon. He’s always had his eye on the political horizon. When he ran for president in 2004, he missed 72.5 percent of the votes in the Senate, so we were left with a one-quarter senator in Massachusetts. I don’t think there’s any doubt John Kerry would like to be Secretary of State.” Kerry's rebuttal, "“It’s not going to happen, don’t waste your breath. I’m running for reelection and you can’t make predictions ... about the future, and I’m not going to do that. I want to go back there to get healthcare done, I want to go back there to get global climate change passed. I want to strengthen our policy, get our troops out of Iraq, and see us have a foreign policy that we can be proud of that makes America strong. I’m proud of the job that I’ve done and I’m proud of what I’ve delivered to the state. The fact is, I think I have a very strong record of accomplishment, and I’m very proud of it.” There's only five days left in this contest and I have a feeling O'Reilly may be a day late and a dollar short to push Kerry's name off the ballot next week. Albeit a familiar face to Massachusetts voters and to American voters across the board as the 2004 Democratic Presidential candidate, Sen. John Kerry currently finds himself campaigning against a Democratic rival in Edward O'Reilly and Republican candidate, Jeff Beatty, a former CIA operative and member of the Delta Force. Yet, despite the critique that his presidential bid exhibits a disinterest in the issues facing the state of Massachusetts on the part of John Kerry, he has effectively passed legislation that increased heating oil funding and provided substantial financial improvements to military pay and death benefits. His 2004 platform against the war in Iraq and dedication to clean energy have gained traction in the past four years and will serve well in maintaining his support from the state's Democratic constituency. However, Kerry's busy schedule stands in the way of his attending any of the debates leading up to the election thus forfeiting an influential means of distinguishing himself above his competitors before potential independent or centrist voters.

Recently, Senator Kerry has joined forces with AFL-CIO President Robert Haynes at the Greater Boston Central Labor Council's annual Labor Day breakfast to confront voters with prejudicial dilemmas in the voting booth. Haynes as Massachusettes top union leader feels that it's very important that voters refuse to be "scared into" voting for John McCain based on a difference of pigment. Kerry agrees and says that Americans should look at Obama's voting records and positive diplomatic outreach instead of focusing on race. Kerry focuses on Obama's progression, not pigment

Senator Kerry knows what the state of Massachusetts needs and if we have learned nothing from the last 8 years it's that Republicans are certainly not the answer. I agree that voters should not be "scared into" voting for John McCain because of Barak Obamas skin color. Kerry is right in taking a stance against voters choosing their candidate on race. I think that at this time when the Democratic party has been split by the Clinton/Obama candidacy it's important to have your more notable Democrats stand up and push the current candidate. 554 days ago | Tagged As: John Kerry
I absolutely agree. Voting on the basis of skin color is not the way for America to decide it's future. To do so would only show ignorance on the global stage and demonstrate to the world just how backwards Americans could be. Barack is a well spoken, reasonable clear thinker who would do a great job in leading America in the tough times ahead. 505 days ago | Tagged As: John Kerry
Democratic incumbent for Massachusetts Senate seat John Kerry has launched a new website to stop smear campaigning against Democratic candidates. As the website says, tens of thousands of new members have joined, all submitting articles to curtail the smears Republican attack dogs have launched against Obama and other Democrats. TruthFightsBack.com is the brainchild of Kerry's leadership Public Action Committee, Campaign for Our Country. It contains a smear tracker and an interactive way for users to conveniently submit informative statements on alleged smears.

In every election since first being elected in 1984, Democratic Senator John Kerry has enjoyed a sizable margin of victory against his opponents. He has won by a margin of at least 7% in each race, his most sizable was the 2002 reelection in which Kerry attained 80% of the vote. Massachussetts is a staunchly Democratic state and after his commendable run for President in 2004, he all but secured a lifelong post as Senator of Massachussetts, much like his colleague Ted Kennedy.

Massachusetts citizens, WAKE UP. John Kerry? Am I not drinking the same water you people are? Why can I only view this man as a COMPLETE and utter clown? And it's not just him! Is anybody actually PROUD of our state government as a whole? Can't ANY of you just smell the corruption and incompetence that emenates from beacon hill???? Everybody aludes to it. Everybody knows somebody who's ripping the state off somehow. Nobody is surprised when they hear of some form of small politics scam being uncovered. Yet almost every one of you will stand an hour in line in the rain to continue voting these FOOLS into office. Seriously folks... John Kerry??? Have you ever even LISTENED to him speak? He spews lies and twists and, well, quite frankly just STUPIDITY. SNAP OUT OF IT PEOPLE. YES, we know your family has voted democratic for the past 200 years. What has it gotten you? The financial records of our elected officials are an important part of voter consideration for a number of reasons - one of those being the fact that Capital Hill has a long history of bringing out the worst in those men and women who make their decisions based on what dollar amount they can get out of it. Therefore, it's a priority of Massachusetts' voters to take note of the fact that Sen. John Kerry (D) has been named "the richest member of Congress with a conservatively estimated net worth of more than $230 million," according to Roll Call. A majority of the Senator's financial assets were listed under his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry the ketchup heiress. Yet, this did not deter Beatty (R) from using the Senator's financial acclaim to scrutinize Kerry's legislative interest: “As usual, Senator ‘Cash and Kerry’ sits at the top of all the lists. Massachusetts voters? As usual, we’re at the bottom of Kerry’s list.” I don't really like either of the two options, but if I had to pick between the two of them then I would pick John Kerry. There is something a little fishy about him that makes me initially not trust him. Am I the only one who believes this? Because everyone I talk to seems to love him. 541 days ago | Tagged As: John Kerry
On Tuesday, John Kerry (D) urged Congress to quickly set up a rescue plan for our economy or we could watch this crisis gather up into an "economic tsunami", the Boston Herald reports. The Democratic Senator out of Massachusetts supports the bailout plan and is upset at the House for denying the bill on the bases of ideology over pragmatic means of offering a desperately needed boost to our markets. "The deal was that each side would provide 50 percent of the votes," he said, although only 30 Republicans were reported to have shown up to the legislative hearing. As we all know at this point, the bill failed to pass the House by a vote of 228 against to 205 in favor and the Dow dropped 777 points. The idea with the most support (as reported in this Boston Herald article) is to "raise the federal deposit insurance limit, now $100,000 per account, to $250,000." Still, the success of the plan is weighed down by the magnitude of it's possible failure and what that entails to American taxpayers.

UPDATE: Kerry Votes for Bailout Arguing that the bailout bill was necessary to protect citizens from future finanacial potholes on Main Street, Kerry voted for the current legislation. After the vote he stated, “This deal will help restore our capital markets and financial institutions. The stark reality we face is that without federal assistance, our financial system may collapse. Small businesses would be unable to obtain financing and jobs would vanish. Families would be unable to borrow for new homes or to send their children to college. Retirement funds could plummet. Those are the stakes. The Congress must come together to enact legislation to help give confidence in America’s economy back to the American people.” Kerry supported more oversight, modifying loans so that people can keep their homes, and warrants for taxpayers in the event that companies profit. He also supported limiting the alternative minimum tax, a measure that critics may find nongermane to the bill.

“Under Kerry and Patrick, Massachusetts now has one of the nation’s highest property tax burdens, is among the highest in per capita debt, and is one of the few states in the country to be losing population. Now, Governor Patrick is flirting with raising income taxes to wipe away the sins of his Democratic buddies. In short, the Patrick/Kerry movie boils down to a series of broken promises and failed leadership.” Jeff Beatty from an Op-Ed piece in HUMAN EVENTS Beatty faces off against the incumbent Democratic Senator John Kerry in a state that sides largely on the Democratic ticket. Beatty's campaign is targeting the high property taxes of the state of Massachusetts and the detachment of it's incumbent senator from a real understanding of the economic burden on the people of Massachusetts. Beatty's argument points to Kerry's marriage to a well-known heiress and resultant wealth to emphasize the financial disparity between his rival and the state's voting base. Beatty is also tapping into the sentiment that carried Massachusetts for Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Primaries in hopes of drawing voters away from Kerry by highlighting the Senator's endorsement of Presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Once again this Republican is not following the traditional stance of a non-interventionist foreign policy, which used to be part of the Republican Party. Not sending soldiers to die and having innocent civilians killed in a war of lies. Nevertheless, Mr. Beatty has it right on some domestic issues with lowering of taxes and having our goal of energy independence. The main problem with some of these Republican/Democrat races is that neither of the two politicians following the direct line of the United States Constitution. Senator Kerry is bad news for everyone and should have never been a Presidential Nominee, never mind Senator of Massachusetts. In the end, both sides of the aisle, will choose their candidate because they dislike the other. 567 days ago | Tagged As: Jeff Beatty
A closer look at Beatty's views on the war in Iraq show that he would have voted against it, but today thinks we still need to finish the job of cleaning up the mess we made there. His military expertise probably would have led him to be more competent than Bush and the majority of Congress in conducting war operations. 554 days ago
Kerry wants to get our troops out of Iraq. He freely admits that he thought it was the right thing to do in the beginning - he's not hiding that fact. Beatty's "military expertise" means nothing in terms of this so-called war as it is unwinnable on its face. Doesn't anyone remember what happened in Korea and Vietnam? You cannot win a war when your opponent is fanatically religious and believes that their god wants them to win. No matter how many of them die in the attempt, they will continue fighting as they believe in the rightness of their cause. 549 days ago | Tagged As: John Kerry
As a member of Skull and Bones and someone who endorsed Obama early in the primary season, Kerry should never have been elected a senator. He is certainly not likely to help repeal the 17th amendment which made possible the consolidation of power in the U.S. Senate. Although Beatty, for now, essentially says he wants to continue Bush's policies on major issues like the war in Iraq, he would certainly be an improvement over a Bonesman who likewise supported the war in its beginning stages. 570 days ago
Al Gore aired this recent ad endorsing Senator Kerry and promoting the environmental message for which he has been known and loved. So it makes sense to assume that Gore is still well-liked because many Americans trust his solutions to high gas prices, but forget about his failed efforts like pushing fuel taxes back in '93. 556 days ago
Jeff Beatty (R) began his steep climb to unseat Sen. John Kerry (D) this week as he fielded questions from campaign staffers and a camerawoman during televised press conference. The press conference took place at the doors of a Fannie Mae office where the Republican candidate aimed to emphasize that Kerry had accepted contributions from the financial institution in the past before their recent plummet and government bailout. In addition, Beatty strategically echoed the criticisms presently being launched at the Democratic Senator by his cumbersome Democratic rival in the primary, Ed O'Reilly (perhaps Beatty's most valuable asset for his chances in November,) who took a substantial 30% of the Democratic vote. Beatty acknowledged the situation, "When a third of the Democrats in his own primary thumb their nose at their sitting senator, he's got troubles in River City. You can bet that the anti-Kerry sentiment is running a lot higher than one-third in the unenrolled and in the Republican ranks." Beatty is hoping to paint Kerry as an out-of-touch, high-brow liberal who has lost his concern for and efficiency in addressing the real issues that face Massachusetts' voters. Despite the fact that he is running a very right-leaning platform, he seem undeterred by the Democratic tradition in the state. He says, "When you tell people, 'My name is Jeff Beatty and I'm running against John Kerry for United States Senate,' I don't get... 'I'm not going to listen to you because you're Republican.' I get, 'Anybody but Kerry.'"

Despite his long reign in Massachusetts, the bright political star that is John Kerry seems to have been burning out since his tragic loss in 2004. It's time for change, Kerry has had ties to both pro and anti abortion ties and hasn't appeared to take a solid stand on "issues" like these. Beatty has idea for the school systems an giving our students choices and even has a great energy plan, although he does endorse off-shore drilling, until we get our act together and are able to utilize coal and nuclear power. Jeff Beatty has a view that WE can control our future...and I like that take charge attitude as opposed to a "roll with the punches" kind. 536 days ago | Tagged As: Jeff Beatty
Jeff Beatty (R) knows he has a giant to drop in Sen. John Kerry (D) and he also knows that he'll have to pull all the stops if he is going to pull off the upset (perhaps the biggest possible upset in all the Senate races across the nation.) Last week, the former CIA operative called out Kerry and demanded that the Senator return all the campaign cash and contributions he pocketed from the corporations that, Beatty claims, brought about our economic crisis. "There isn’t a player in this whole debacle that John Kerry isn’t in bed with. John Kerry needs to clean his hands of this money and show he is accountable to the voters for the role he has played in this economic crisis.” According to Beatty, John Kerry has accepted up to $110,000 in campaign funding from both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in addition to other heavyweight lobbyists. He also noted that the Senator holds $2 million in AIG stock. Beatty continued to note that Kerry has voted against the measures to tighten regulations against the financial markets. As the FBI investigations against AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Lehman Brothers, look for Beatty to keep pushing this point as our economy dominates the list of voters' concerns across the nation. It comes as no surprise that Senator Kerry, being the elite that he is, just supported the revised Wall Street bailout bill and will continue to bankrupt the people of Massachusetts. Conservative voters might give Beatty higher ratings than he deserves, but he seems to be the best choice on the ballot for them to support. They will find out soon enough if Beatty is much different once he is in office. 533 days ago
