Sounds reminiscent of the late 18th century...If we were living in the original 13 colonies in the 1770s, don't you think you'd hear this exact same point? "Who thinks rebels armed with single-fire muzzle-loading muskets could defeat the best military in the world?"
Maybe in WWII, Frenchmen of the same mind as excon preferred to throw up a sig heil with a big smile since, after all, a Thompson is no match for a Panzer.
This is the problem with education today, it doesn't allow people to think intelligently. If you have ever studied history you would realize that every great government of the past once became corrupt and oppressive and was DEFEATED. Is it possible that at that time they had the latest and greatest war weapons, YES they did. The key to a successful overthrow of an oppressive government is to acquire the tools needed (armed soldiers) and a plan to carry it out without the full resistance. The US military is according to the constitution never to be used against it's own citizens.
I agree. In order to win a confrontation with a corrupt government, you have to ACQUIRE some tools. In other words, the A.R. 15 buried in your closet won’t do the trick.
There are literally millions of AR 15's I would argue that if 10,000 us committed patriots were able to plan a surprise attack on a group of the dirty politician we could using nothing more than our AR 15's eliminate a large chunk of the problem and get out with some casualties. Then retreat and covertly plan the next attack until such a time at the politicians were all dead or realized that oppression and crime will lead to death. Yes, this is why we the people need to be armed and willing to take our country back if needed.
This is the reason our fore fathers included the 2ND Amendment.
we we we. You say we we we so much you might as well speak French. Here in reality those of us who aren’t insane know that you’re just a bag of hot gas who’ll never do anything to put himself in harms way but you’ll keep saying we we we like it means something. It doesn’t and neither do you mr big talker.
The thing you forget is some of our truest most patriotic Americans are in the military and most would not side with a corrupt government trying to oppress its people.
When Americans see those freedoms start to slip we get angry because we were born and raised free men and women and we know the potential dangers of slowly giving that up. At least conservatives do anyways. Also an apache helicopter can fuck some shit up on a truly terrifying scale, however, no aircraft is completely armoured or bulletproof as they still need to be light enough to fly and any helicopter is succeptable to small arms fire damage.
Because an Apache can’t keep a residential block under control and drag people out in the middle of the night. Neither a tank nor a helicopter can effectively enforce curfew. You have to understand that an oppressive government requires boots on the ground and an all-present police state. History proves this best.
If the government was so oppressive that a revolution was in order, factions of the military would support the rebellion. Members of law enforcement would support the resistance. For those rebellious factions and resistance members to be effective, armed civilians would necessarily bolster their ranks.
Nobody thinks some loone with a rifle will take down the government. But armed guerrilla resistance has been historically effective against the US military.
I don’t doubt that some of the military would turn treacherous. However, I believe that most of them would honor their oath and wipe out the traitors forthwith.
If the government was so oppressive that a revolution was in order, the a significant portion of the military would understand the government to be the domestic enemy of the Constitution they are sworn to protect.
Let’s be clear in our terms. I don’t doubt that if the government became that oppressive, it would be overthrown and I would join in the revolution.
However, repealing the Second Amendment and gathering up the guns isn’t being oppressive. Watching children get murdered in school and doing nothing is oppressive.
Repealing the 2nd Amendment removes the ability of the people to pose a viable threat to the government, which opens the door for oppression. This is why the 2nd is in place. It’s more important than soldiers quartering in your home or the government searching your property at will.
As for kids getting murdered; government failure to use guns caused it to continue. Potentially it was government policies that allowed it to occur at all. Yes, school shooters need to be stopped. Taking my guns won’t stop them.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t love the government anymore than you do and if they became Naziistic I would join the resistance and BUY some weapons of war.
What I wouldn’t do is believe that my AR 15 will protect me and/or win a war with the US.
I would join the resistance and BUY some weapons of war.
If we the people lost the Constitutional protection of their gun rights, then on the eve of revolution you would find yourself more than a day late and more than a few guns short.
Nahh. There’s a huge weapons market out there in the world. If the government disarmed us and started some shit, we could buy a whole a lot of firepower to go against them. And that has nothing to do with the Second Amendment.
There’s a huge weapons market out there in the world.
Right now there is. But you live in a world where the greatest economy in the world produces the greatest number of firearms and has the highest level of gun ownership BECAUSE IT'S LEGAL. You want to eat your cake and have it too.
Naaa. You’re missing the boat on all counts. I support the Second Amendment - NOT because I think it prevents tyranny, but because it’s part of the constitution.
That we have a lot of guns, and that we are the greatest producer of guns, has nothing to do with my ability to buy weapons of war on the open market when and IF my government gets frisky. That has NOTHING to do with the Second Amendment.
A thing isn’t good by virtue of being in the Constitution (16th). That’s why there’s an amendment process.
Your failure to see the connection between the 2nd Amendment, the proliferation of guns, and your ability to get guns is just that. A failure. However, since the 2nd isn’t going anywhere and tyranny is mostly hypothetical, I’m happy to agree to disagree.
Apache would kill you before you even touched the trigger. And even if you did, the armor is pretty good. Alright, lets say you do take down one Apache. Then you’d either have more apaches or special forces/law enforcement with bigger guns to worry about.
So do you think this theoretical rebellion would be an all-out frenzy? I don't think so. I assume the citizens and possibly even the state militias could join together, and you'd have to assume that like the Civil War, some officers would defect to their home states.
Even though I don't believe all law enforcement would stay loyal to their dictatorial/tyrannical government, we can run with your idea. So, here's the thing: in the Revolutionary War, there were a lot of loyalists, and I don't doubt that that would be the situation in this neo-American Revolution. Yes, we are the ones with the ARs, but the government would most likely believe they could quickly crumble any rebellion, as they've done many times in history. But, the only rebellion that could've worked if the Confederates were able to transport their troops and battle plans better. If a new revolution occurred, there would be a sizable amount of people wanting to unite this theoretical rebellion.
The only way small arms could oppose modern military hardware would be by prolonged grass roots gorilla fighting campaigns targeting supplies, transportation, or soldiers out of their hardware. Simply not likely to happen in the US. You could annoy the government with your guns. But you're not going to beat them.
Who thinks rebels armed with A.R. 15’s could defeat Apache helicopters?
Hello again, poochy boy:
Constitutionally, the BIGGEST, BADDEST, and most DANGEROUS weapon you can own, is an AR 15. I don't care HOW many AR 15's are out there, the government has enough Apache helicopters to put down the threat.. To think otherwise is NUTS.. It's SUICIDAL to think AR 15's will keep you free.
But, RPG's might... IED's might. Stinger Missiles might.. A couple tanks might. But, under the 2nd Amendment, you CAN'T have those weapons. Don't get me wrong, pooch.. I'm no more a government lover than you are.. But, if I'm gonna fight a revolution where I have a chance at winning, I'm gonna have some heavy weaponry..
Super Stupid the 2nd Amendment defines the Dreaded AR-15 as the BIGGEST,BADDEST AND MOST DANGEROUS WEAPON YOU CAN OWN ! You are the most unintelligent Dummy out there !!!!!!!!!!!
I think those flying the helicopters would be on we the peoples' side. If we never disarm, we won't have to find out. Nobody wants war with 350 million armed citizens. Hell, they're scared of one 19 year old in a school, much less of millions of vets trained to take those Apaches down...amongst other things...
