Why didn't Trump fight in the Vietnam War?
President Trump was born in 1947, making him 28 by the end of the Vietnam War in 1975. That said, shouldn't he have fought in the Vietnam War as a result of the draft?
Nahhh. But, if your countrymen are being drafted, and you get 5 deferments for bone spurs in your feet, and you’re able to play 18 holes of golf today without a hint of a limp, and you’re running for president, you DO have some explaining to do.
Fighting for your country doesn’t make you a better person. But, avoiding the draft while your fellow countrymen are dying in war, certainly makes you a shitty person.
This, of course, spoken by a man who left some blood on the battlefield. Trump thinks going to military school is the same thing as war. Yes, he had the balls to say that.
That also means Muhammad Ali , John Wayne , Dick Cheney , Bruce Springsteen, Bill Clinton are pretty shitty people , it’s intersting to note also Trump said John Mc Cain wasn’t a war hero as he was caputured Trump said “ I prefer my hero’s not to be captured “ 😂
I wonder what sort of soldier Trump would have made ?
That also means Muhammad Ali , John Wayne , Dick Cheney , Bruce Springsteen, Bill Clinton are pretty shitty people
Hello again, D:
They might be.. I can't look into their hearts.
Nonetheless, there are HONORABLE people who avoided the war because of deeply held conscientious beliefs. Then there are people who avoided the war for the NOT so honorable reason that they're COWARDS.
They are HONORABLE people who avoided the war because of deeply held conscientious beliefs
That’s simple not true Muhammad Ali yes the rest I’m afraid no, here’s what Mr Born in the USA had to say on the matter ......
He acted wacky at his induction physical to get a 4F rating and therefore be able to avoid the draft, something he told Rolling Stone in 1984, saying that his thoughts at the time were, “I aint going.” Do not be fooled by his unemployed veteran’s lament “Born in the USA.” “The Boss” did not serve and wanted it that way.
John Wayne who played the big man and the hero most his life was a coward also and a famed racist
I didn't say they as in those particular people.. I said there ARE honorable people..
Look.. It's possible that Ali was a real COWARD and Dick Cheny was an honorable man.. It's possible that the Boss is chicken shit, and that Trump is a REAL hero who simply had bad feet. But, I ain't buying it.
How? Let's look at our past 5 Presidents, for example. George W. Bush served as the 46th Governor of Texas and served in the Texas Air National Guard. Bill Clinton was both the 40th and 42nd Governor of Arkansas and the 50th Attorney General of Arkansas. George H. W. Bush was the 43rd Vice President of the U.S., the 11th Director of the CIA, and a U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Lastly, Ronald Reagan served as California's 33rd Governor. So, tell me again, how has Donald Trump served his country? (Again, other than being President)
To anyone. On top of not proving to even his supporters that he's worth being the President, all he's done worth noting is when he borrowed one million dollars from his father, scammed people out of thousands of dollars through TrumpU, and gone bankrupt several times. Also, obviously, his supporters are pleased with him. They're his supporters.
Your argument has deteriorated more in a few hours than my grandfather has in 10 years. Please clarify your argument. Again, why wouldn't his supporters support him? I'm saying he hasn't proved to liberals like yourself why he could run the country well.
Again a sizeable amount of Americans would disagree with your assessment
Do you have any proof of that? I'd like to see statistics that prove that a "sizeable" amount of Americans disagree with my assessment, especially considering the fact that Trump's current approval rating is below 50%.
I wouldn't bet that Trump is going to go down as a great president. Maybe he'll put some good policies in effect, but he isn't the second coming of Theodore Roosevelt.
Because it was a war based on nothing & a great way to guarantee death. Is it not odd that none of our past several Presidents have been in war, yet the left careth not?
Secondly, the left hated the Vietnam War, yet condemns Trump as a kid & a liberal for not jumping to fight in a war that Liberals were protesting???? Hypocrisy from the left at its finest.
Thirdly, Obama and Clinton didn't sign up for anything involving the military & the left doesn't care at all. Hmmmmm........
yet the left careth not? & Hypocrisy from the left at its finest
I'm not a liberal, I'm a conservative.
the left hated the Vietnam War, yet condemns Trump as a kid & a liberal
First, I've not changed into a liberal magically. Secondly, I thought the left included liberals?
Obama and Clinton didn't sign up for anything involving the military & the left doesn't care at all
First, I'm still not a liberal. Second, Obama was 14 when the Vietnam War ended, which was the last time the draft was used and Hillary Clinton didn't join the military because the only form of military service in the '60s and '70s for women was being a nurse. I was specifically referencing the fact that Trump avoided the draft, whereas women weren't registered for the draft and neither were 14-year olds.
Trump is a punk bitch and always has been. Yes, the Vietnam war was bad. It was illegal and immoral in many ways. I turned 18 in March of 1973 so I remember all of it. If you do the math you can figure out that I barely missed being drafted because the war ended just in time. I know I would have been drafted because my lottery number was 42 and anyone under 60 was drafted.
I didn't want to go but I didn't do anything to avoid the draft because both of my parents were WWII vets. My dad was on the draft board. By the time I turned 18 Walter Cronkite who had previously been a hawk, went to Vietnam to see the war for himself (he was in WW2) and came back with a complete change of opinion. In those days Walter Cronkite was the most trusted man in America. If 'Uncle Walter' staid it you knew that it was true. Cronkite came back and said the war was wrong. So I had Walter Cronkite telling me it was an immoral war and I didn't want to go and I knew guys who had gone and come back home telling me not to go. Still I did nothing but wait my turn. I lucked out only because the anti-war movement stopped the war and possibly saved my life.
Then there were the guys who got involved in the peace movement and burned their draft cards and went to jail and suffered real consequences for refusing the draft. Muhammad Ali is the greatest example. For all he knew, he'd never box again after he refused to go. I consider those guys heros, not to the degree that the guys who went to fight are hero's but still, they put themselves on the line and stood up for their principles. The people involved in the anti-war movement (and I wasn't one of them) who raised hell and stopped that war might have saved my life and I'm forever grateful to them.
But Trump is in the worst category of all. He's was a little rich bitch who had the money to get a phony doctor willing to lie for him so he could stay out of the war and live the playboy life in NYC. He never joined any protest or put himself on the line in any way. He was only interested in staying safe and screwing as many bimbo's as possible.
