Why do Conservatives Want to Leave Everything to the States!

i would like to understand why conservatives seem to want to leave everything to the states .someone will say "actually, im ok with gay marriage, lets leave it to the states" .or "you know what, marijuana is ok", lets leave it to the states .

but leaving things to the states seems like an odd compromise between allowing it and not allowing it.if abortion is legal anywhere, why not everywhere ?why should a woman in texas without a car have to hitchhike hundreds of miles to get an abortion ?why should a man in NW washington have to travel hundreds of miles to carry a concealed weapon ?why dont they have these rights in their own state ?

i think that rights that are granted in any state should be available in every state .so then, what would the states have the power to decide ?taxes, pumping your own gas, and state birds are examples .

As this site proves, people do not agree and they do not agree with a passion! If you leave it to the Federal government to pick one, then there will be a shit load of people who are pissed off their way was not chosen and they have no where to go to live their life the way they want to.

But more importantly than that is the fact that the fore fathers did NOT intended to concentrate power in one place. They wanted to divide up the power and have checks and balances. The constitutions clearly spells out the separation of powers. It basically says, "These powers are reserved for the federal government and if it is not here, then it is up to the states."

;)

"If you leave it to the Federal government to pick one, then there will be a shit load of people who are pissed off their way was not chosen and they have no where to go to live their life the way they want to."

but you cant just go to another state to get what you want on a particular issue, right ?you have a house and a job and stuff .and what if that state disagrees on a different issue ?

isnt the solution to always err on the side of freedom ?then people who want something can get it and those who dont, dont .everyone can live their life the way they want to .

"It basically says, "These powers are reserved for the federal government and if it is not here, then it is up to the states.""

i thought it was up to the states or the people?

Why not? I've lived and worked in New York, Florida, Oklahoma and California.

and what if that state disagrees on a different issue ?

Pick which issues are most important to you. Alternatively, forget which issues are important and pick the place you want to live in.

isnt the solution to always err on the side of freedom ?

Sure, let's give people the freedom to kill other people. If you want to kill someone fine, if not, then don't ;)

Because control through the federal government is a pit of spending turning our free country and state into a slavery of debt.

And states do not want world social justice its a ploy to take us over. Only California is spacey enough to think thats a good idea. I think Texas usually makes sense.

States need to control the federal beast or be eaten by it!

maybe texas is good for you then, if thats where you live .but what if you live somewhere else ?are you really going to leave your husband, your job, your house, and your family to go somewhere that might be a little better ?and what about people like me, who believe in freedom ?where do we go ?

No of course not. Im going to stay where I am amd trust in my God.

Maybe it has to do with decentralizing authority and letting States decide whats best. Locals always have a better idea what they need than those in DC. Would you prefer a cookie cutter approach where one size fits all that the left wants, or do you want it to be more localized/personalized and let States decide what's best for themselves?

i think its good to unleash the 50 laboratories of innovation .but i dont think you can ban civil rights anywhere .

what does the left have to do with it ?the right wants to allow concealed carry everywhere (which i am in favor of) and ban abortions in many cases (which i am against) .

why not have freedom everywhere and let the individual decide what is best for themselves ?

I agree with you, whatis.... We will end up as the old Europe. Their countries are like states over here. They formed the European Union to become more like THIS Union so that things would be more organized and they could work closer together. Now WE (some of us) want to go our separate ways and become more independent. The "Independent States of America"?? I don't see ANY signs the founding fathers preferred that! "A MORE PERFECT UNION" does NOT signal that we should all govern differently. Cross a border and run into different rules? Different regulations? It will divide America as the old Europe was divided!

Because they want 50 states with 50 laws. They have no sense of what is right and wrong.

Because despite all the bad that is Washington there is still a greater propensity for idiots who can be mislead or controlled at the state level, which helps push their agendas.
