Hello bront:

If I can't defend myself, I want a serious gunslinger to do it for me..

I used to be supportive of civilians having guns.. And, for years, civilians were relatively responsible with them.. But, not any more.. It's time for the government to take them away..

What?? My mom let me shoot my BB gun at trees, but she took it away from me when I shot at windows..

This is an important distinction between the left and the right. You analogize all American civilians with one individual child, as though the collective population is a singlular individual, and worse, that government is its parent. You act as though the out of control violence of inner city turf wars equates to me becoming irresponsible with my firearm.

Other people cannot loose my rights for me.

So the left believes in collectivism, yet simultaneously frames collectivism in terms of the individualism favoured by the right? Your premise is a total contradiction of itself, as per usual. The left are either collectivists or individualists. Contrary to your sophist bullshit, they are not collectivists when you want them to be and individualists when you want them to be.

Hello again, A:

Nahh... We're talking about degrees - not a do we, or don't we..

When we make laws, we ASSUME there's a COLLECTIVE responsibility for the acts we're making illegal. Look.. I have NO doubt that you're RESPONSIBLE with your bomb making material, and I AM too.. Nonetheless, some law maker thinks WE'RE collectively guilty for, say, the guy who blew up the Muir Building..

It's true.. I cannot LOSE your rights for you.. But, WE, as a nation, can certainly REPEAL them..

It's considered to be an important step in the march toward Utopia, that we first be disarmed. Considering the history of our culture surrounding guns, it's not happening.

Americans, those who regard history as a guide, understand that weapons are part of freedom. We do not live in a mythical world where everyone is nice.

The police are professional protectors of civilians. They need firearms to do their job properly in some societies which are subject to lethal violence.
