CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.
To learn more about the CreateDebate scoring system, check out the FAQ.
When you are ready to voice your opinion, use the Add Argument button to create an argument.
If you would like to address an existing argument, use the Support and Dispute link within that argument to create a new reply.
I don't have to prove anything, considering "asshole" is an opinion-based title. Considering all of this, measurement of the percentage of "assholes" on the Internet would vary from person to person (unless someone is referring to actual assholes). I may find the majority of the people online to be assholes, where you may come up with a much lower percentage. For example, I think you're an asshole, but some people seem to like you... and some may even consider you to be a nice person, although that is very unlikely, it is still possible, which means that you would not fall into their particular percentage of assholes.
It's funny that you think that I need to learn how to debate, when the majority of your posts are completely pointless.
You could have just said "that's just my opinion".

Because the majority of the topics on here are not worth debating. Most of them are just a matter of sharing your opinion and not actually getting into things that require facts to debate with.

Only an idiot would think it was a real statistic.

Or someone who just wanted to get under your skin.
That's the equivalent of someone saying that they gave me some water to make me thirsty. I add my opinion because I want a response. Whether I find your argument to be idiotic, rude, or smart, I'm just glad someone left their opinion. The more unsupportive the response is, the more fun it is to debate. That's why people post stuff on this site, right?
I guess they are pointless because they are not worth responding to?
I really don't care for the points. I just like to try and think of a response to everything.
Honestly, I was not serious at all about refuting you lol. I just wanted to see if you would come up with something ridiculous, so I could see if I could be more ridiculous.
Didn't really mean to annoy you if I did. I only say that I like to annoy people to try and hide the fact that I unintentionally annoy them.
If I don't get the ridiculous/funny response and end up annoying them, then I just go with that and try to take it further. That is the factor of being bored and miserable, I guess. Now that I've realized that, I will do my best to stop.
There are still people behind those screenames and not just puppets for my amusement.
I guess they are pointless because they are not worth responding to?
Usually.

Like I said, "pointless".
Didn't really mean to annoy you if I did. I only say that I like to annoy people to try and hide the fact that I unintentionally annoy them.
Yeah, who likes to actually annoy people? Seems pretty pathetic.
It's kind of a difficult task to be annoyed by people online, at least for me it is. They're much easier to ignore on here, rather than in person. I may find what you say to be ridiculous at times, but I don't really find you to be annoying. If you were to fill up my activity with spam messages over and over again, then I might get a little irritated.
As I've pointed out...most of these topics aren't debates. They are just chat topics.
In real debates I don't just say pointless things...which really isn't pointless since the point is to have conversation with those who think in similar ways.
Oops. I am slightly medicated. Anwhoo: GuitarGuy said: Because 85% of the people online are assholes. Intangible said: prove your claim GuitarGuy said: Prove that I'm wrong. Intangible said: You made the claim. You have the burden of proof. Lrnhow2debate. GuitarGuy said: I don't have to prove anything, considering "asshole" is an opinion-based title. I then said: Sorry to but in butt the burden of proof is on the one making the claim. GuitarGuy said: Typically... but you didn't read our entire argument did you, Dana? I now say: Let the record please show that i have read the entire argument. Thank you.
Sure. Calling someone an "asshole" is based off of personal opinion of the individual. I don't think I'm an asshole, at least not consistently... so I wouldn't fit into that percentage. Your percentage would probably be different, because you were suggesting that I am an asshole.
To put it simply, my original argument wasn't a real statistic... it was just my opinion.
Well the question was Why do people on the internet act like they know everything about you?
You answered Because 85% of the people online are assholes.
By claiming that he is hiding the fact that he is a nerd, implies that you must know everything about him to be able make that accusation, so by your own answer, you technically called yourself an asshole.
That doesn't matter. He said that you said that he was hiding the fact that he was a nerd, and that accusation gives the implication that you must know everything about him.
"Nerd" is a label that is meant to completely cover a person's personality.
So by coming to the conclusion that he is a nerd, you must know all the factors about him...or act like/assume you know everything about him.
You may not consciously think "I know everything about him", but by making the accusation that he proposed you made, you are acting like it.
"It seems to me like you're just trying to cast away any chance of someone calling you a nerd, by making yourself appear as if you are not consumed by technology."
That's what I said to him. I never called him a nerd.
It seemed like he was trying too hard. He was bashing technology, which was contradictory to his other debates where he speaks in a positive tone about technology. It appeared that he had realized how much he was talking about it and felt like he was shedding a nerdish light on himself, so he changed his tone.
Yeah I thought it was pretty odd that he came up with that debate all of a sudden, right after he just got through debating me about which video game systems were better. lol
They would want to look like they are smart like they did good when really all they wrote down was "potato potatoe" 4534 times. I know I'm smart, but I don't represent that I am smarter than anyone dissing on people. Others do diss on how wrong they are.
Because they think it's good rhetoric which it obviously isn't. This should be self-evident to anyone who has the patience to give a second of attention to this subject.
