Why does it have to be the Yanks who uncover wrong doings?

Earlier this year the United States uncovered serious corruption in F.I.F.A, the world governing body for international football, despite soccer not being America's national game. The main soccer playing nations of the world knew what was going on, huffed and puffed a bit, but did nothing. Indeed many nations, especially Russia tried to pooh pooh the issue. Then there was the willful fraudulent activities by Volkswagen, again it took the American standards institutions to catch this German chicanery. Unlike Europe, the Yanks are not impressed by the influence and clout of the big corporations and go straight for the jugular, as B.P. discovered after their spillage in the Gulf of Mexico. Three cheers for Uncle Sam.

FIFA seemed to really be a problem for European countries. That does not sit well with America. We have the monopoly on being a problem for Europeans. No one messes with our territory. If you try to steal our spotlight we will shut you down.

With Volkswagen they decided that they would try to cheat to pass our government regulations. We take our government regulations seriously. No one passes those government regulations for free. If you don't bribe your local corrupt politician, we will investigate you.

For BP, that's easy. They have oil. We love to go after you if you have oil.

Maybe because that they are smart................................................
