CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.
To learn more about the CreateDebate scoring system, check out the FAQ.
When you are ready to voice your opinion, use the Add Argument button to create an argument.
If you would like to address an existing argument, use the Support and Dispute link within that argument to create a new reply.
"Evil" is a semantical term that would be defined 100 different ways by 100 different people. Atheists sometimes say "God is evil", so they have created their own definition. Liberals say Conservatives are evil and vica versa. Abstract thoughts and definitions just "are". Ideas can be independent of anything.
I don't have to define - you used it first (under obvious context, though that doesn't matter), so you should be the one to decide its meaning.
If you then begin claiming that I should be defining it and that you never set the meaning, then if cowardice were a virtue, yours would be worthy of applauds.
I am not bombastic because I have one account. Nagpal tried your tactic and I dared him to report me for multi accounts. It didn't work because? I have one account.
Nevertheless, ad hominem attacks are meaningless. So show us an example of what would make a god "evil".
And in this account the "movie" is simply a biographical account and not fiction. You can witness a biographical account, not in any way manipulate it, and know how it ends.
Because then you wouldn't have any reason to come groveling to him for protection and/or forgiveness. .................................................................................
Perhaps, but you'll have no excuse for "not groveling" at the judgement. You'll just be seen as a hypocrite who condemns himself by his own words, not admitting his sin, and rejecting God, ending in an undesirable finality. And the saved will be singing, drinking, and dancing with joy because they didn't make your choice.
The people in the video claim that God permits evil to make way for a greater good. But why?-----
If you die, go to Heaven, and your death influences 100 million people in a positive way, the death is not only justified, but required by a morally sound agent.
-----If he's God, he's very well able to create that greater good without the need for evil, so then why does he use evil to create that greater good?------
In a reality with free will, you must allow evil to exist, and the best possible outcome is that evil causes some kind of good in the end.
He can create free will without evil, but the agents of the free will would have to have the comprehension of a chimp or less. And that would be pointless.
-----Unless of course, God needs to allow evil things to happen for the greater good, in which case he's limited in his power.-----
Not actually. If he can use evil to create good, he has power and omniscience over it, which is power beyond measure, and a talent that is unmatched by any mortal man.
So you're a Democrat? Funny, I never pegged you for one but I guess it makes sense. I think your faith is misplaced, either that or you are still blaming everyone else.
