or do you think they get equal play?

Palin didn't make a simple gaffe. She bumbled her way through the entire interview. You could tell she was struggling to spit out memorized talking points.

These guys all get caught fumbling and bumbling. Obama in the debate fumbled the name of the soldier whose bracelet he wore. He has fumbled words and thought about his words as he was saying them constantly. He constantly cuts off a thought and adjusts to his talking points and phrases his handlers have coached him on. I still ask the same question. Why the vicious hatred of Palin. She is unqualified. So is Obama. She was a pick for votes. The choice for actually governing should have been Portman IMO. But none of that explains the sheer vicious hatred directed at her. So try to change the subject all you want but the questions stands.

Yes all of the candidates have misspoken at various times, but if you can't see that Palin is in a league of her own, you need to take off your partisan goggles.

The media does not have a "vicious hatred" for Palin, they're simply telling it like it is.

Edit: After reading your other arguments I see you're not talking about the media, but rather claiming that Democrats in general viciously hate Palin? Well, you mentioned you live in a very Democratic area. I bet if you lived in Redneck, USA you would hear plenty of Obama hate. It just speaks to the partisan divide in this country.

Messing up on a word and trying to string together a group on nosensical talking points are two differant things. McCain called for the retirement of the head of the FEC (he meant SEC) and no one called him out on this. That's because people know what he meant. With Palin it's like trying to interpret Miss Teen South Carolina. Hell, McCain had to be corrected in one of his speeches by Libermen about the differance between Al Queda and extremists but your more worried about getting the name of a soldier whose bracelet Obama has.

Because Palin was a beauty queen, heh. It's a far more interesting target and she's made it easy. Although I have heard about Biden's gaffes on NPR...but no, I know...not the same as the fun we've all been enjoying with Palin's remarks.

We have heard so much static about every statement Palin makes which can conceivably be seen as a gaffe. But Biden thinking that FDR was president when the Great Depression hit in late October of '29 and saying he didn't hide but immediately went on TV to address the public came and went with little play. For those who missed it, here is what Biden told Couric:

“When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed,” Biden told Couric. “He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.’”

First of all Hoover was the president and second of all, who had a TV in 1929?

Now of course we all know what he meant. But when Couric interviewed Palin she said nothing quite so silly and got ten times the roasting for it. Why the hatred of Palin? Why do women's rights only extend to those who want to murder born and unborn fetuses? Why don't women's rights extend to those who want to keep their children . . . alive? I don't see Palin going around spewing hateful and obscene vitriol against women who choose to abort. Why would a supposed feminist hate a woman making such an impact on the nation and succeeding in such a prominent way? Is feminism like a gang where you have to murder someone, in this case a fetus to be granted membership in the club? She is against abortion. Have I missed either Palin or McCain saying they would work to overturn Roe vs Wade? I am against guns but I recognize the second amendment and don't try to overturn it. Sometimes I believe that all those self evident rights should be reserved for those who acknowledge the corresponding responsibilities but I am not advocating changing Thos. Jefferson's flowery words.

I actually was listening to "Sirius Left 146" on Sirius Radio the other day and some talking head (alex bennett maybe?) started a comment that began "Sara Palin should keep her mouth shut unless . . . and then he trailed off. His gay producer said "You can't say it but it is cute if I say it" and proceeded to finish the line with a reference to a certain part of the male anatomy being introduced to her mouth. I was shocked. And yet he was trying to be funny. But the sheer hatred of Palin by so called feminists empowers this foul mouthed cretin. Biden is a two time loser, a two time plagiarist, and a hilarious gaffe machine. He has come out with opposite opinions to Obama's on AIG bailout, has said paying higher taxes is patriotic, said he and Obama do not support clean coal when Obama is for it, criticized an ad that his own campaign has run, and I think all of this was within one week.

Palin is hated and comments about her are vicious. Biden is forever being given a free pass.

Not so silly!!!??? Come on Inky, you know better than that. Biden made a historical mistake, this is unlikely to affect his decision making. Palin was talking gibberish. Maybe you could explain (using her words as an example) what she was trying to say when asked about the bailout.

I refuse to respond to your claim about media sexism except to say: shame on you. You quote a media source that is obviously bias as an example and use it to say the whole media is sexist. if I found one racist Republican would it be fair to accuse all Republicans of racism, no.

Most mainstream media comments about Palin are fair. The interview sucked and there's no denying it. But I don't have to tell you, see for yourself:

I never said anything about media sexism. Hillary's campaign already did that. I gave one example but I could have given Ashley Judd's comment or Gloria Steinem's or Bill Marr calling her a stewardess or many others. I listen to toxic waste dumps on both sides. Sean Hannity and Rush and Keith Olberman and Alan Colmes. There is no vicious hatred towards Obama despite being opposed passionately to him. I am listening to people on the streets. I live in the most Democratic state around, Maryland. I was with a woman today who is polite and sweet and heard words coming out of her mouth I never thought she knew when she was talking about Palin. I gave one example of the media. I did not claim it was a media issue. It is the whole Democratic community. Of course the source I gave was biased. But I am biased against Obama because of his policies and might play with calling him Obamassiah or those kinds of games but that is a long way from the viciousness I hear from everyday people towards Palin.

I don't care if the interview was the worst piece of public speaking ever. How does that explain the hatred? I think she was the wrong candidate and I am very disappointed in McCain for picking a Veep for the campaign instead of for the governing. I am on record as wanting Portman. Boring. No "game changer". But a budget wonk who can help get the taxes/spending balance in line. With the right budget work we can afford the rest. Health care. Social Security reform. Infrastructure. Education. It all comes down to the budget for me. It pays for everything else.

In rereading this argument I saw your post and couldn't help thinking of Bluto in "Animal House" talking about the Germans bombing Pearl Harbor and then becoming Senator Blutarsky. It was a joke on celluloid and it is a joke now.
