Why is God a Jealous God if He is the Only One
It does however make perfect sense if the creators of this god needed people to follow them instead of god and pledge a loyalty to the gods whom they had created. Can anyone shed some light on this situation.

"HE" is jealous because he is NOT the only one. There are different men that "created" different "gods" with different laws and the jealousy of the "creators" will last until they destroy each other in the name of THEIR "god". (And probably take the rest of us with them!) Unless, that is, they come to their senses and stop living a dangerous, mythical life. It's like Trump. HE is jealous because more than half of those "creations" believed in another and he's going to keep fighting to MAKE them believe "HE" is the ONLY one for them! HE wants that "pledge of loyalty! As to what gods are they are imaginary entities which are said to have great powers, which the ancients created for two main reasons. 1st to have authority over the weaker minded masses. For the people who created these gods they would claim that they were the people who spoke for the gods. This gave these people great power, and wealth by using the name of their god along with strong arm tactics to control the masses. As a stronger minded person I realize that gods are impotent without the people who follow them. I call them gods because that is the English word used to describe these supernatural entities. In the Middle East they are called Allah, in each culture they have different names. In many each cultures there are many with individual entities. For example your god is named Jehovah, or Yahweh. Men created many gods in their image. This makes perfect sense as there are many different kinds of people. It stands to reason that the different people would create gods that were like them. This explains why there have been thousands of different gods. This is why today there are thousands of different religious beliefs. First of all I want to acknowledge that someone said this, clearly saying that MEN CREATES GOD, I think he/she is assuming that every other god is created by men expect the on she believes in. If a god existed he would have no reason to be jealous if he is the only god, since I believe he doesn't exist it is perfectly suitable that men created god in their image. Fair point. I've heard it be explained this way. We were created to be in fellowship with God. If we're out worshipping something else, God would be jealous. Its analogous to marriage. I don't know if you're married, but If you were and your spouse were to go off with the other person, you would probably be jealous. Another stupid question....God is jealous if you put other being before Him for the same reason you would be jealous if your wife put another man before you. God loves you and wants you to love Him, if you love others more than Him He is jealous over you and that is because He is good, He wants to give you life and all things that pertain to life but you love other gods which cannot give you life. You cannot blame God if today He says,"Well, Bib, you love the god of your own mind which you imagine to be better, greater, stronger than me, the pitiful dying little god I hate because it is against me, so Bib, you go down there and bow to your god which you love. I'm giving you what you want, Bib, reality void of good things from me. Good bye, Bib." And then God ceases to sustain your time under His mercy, a Muslim comes along and says "Hey atheist, it's time for you to go to Allah", then cuts your head off and you find your god can't get you out of Hell, and you forever have what you wanted in time, a reality void of anything good from God as nothing good can be in fire. It's important to understand the word "jealous" when it's being used. Take for example Exodus 20:5 to describe God is different from how it's being used to describe the sin of jealousy in Galatians 5:20. I think often times when we as humans think of "jealousy" we tend to want something that we don't have from someone. Take, for example, your neighbour may have a better-looking car or house and we may be envious of those things. In Exodus 20:5 it's not saying that God is jealous or envious because someone has something He wants or needs. Look at Exodus 20:4-5 it says, "You shall not make yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God.." If you examine the text you'll see that God is jealous when someone gives to another something that rightly belongs to Him. In other verses, God is speaking of people who are making idols, or bowing down and worshiping those idols instead of giving God the worship that belongs to Him alone. God is possessive of the worship and service. It is a sin (as God points out clearly in this commandment) to worship or serve anything other than God. It is a sin when we desire, or we are envious, or we are jealous of someone because he has something that we we do not have. It is a different use of the word "jealous" when God says He is jealous. What He is jealous of belongs to Him; worship and service belong to Him alone, are to be given Perhaps a practical example will help us understand the difference. If a husband sees another man flirting with his wife, he is right to be jealous, for only he has the right to flirt with his wife. This type of jealousy is not sinful. Rather, it is entirely appropriate. Being jealous for something that God declares to belong to you is good and appropriate.
