When saying it is what history shows us you should also consider our current scientific and technological level - none of which existed during previous collapses. Also, people in general are far smarter than hundreds and thousands of years ago.

Viewing US as a civilization is not exactly correct, since we are all connected to each other. It is a part of human civilization and this debate is about US, not the whole humanity.

Still, with our current knowledge, collapse is very unlikely even if it were on global scale. Since we, as a whole, are smarter than in the past there should always be someone smart enough to know what to do, how to proceed.

It is pretty much the same here where I live, although our average level of intelligence is significantly higher it makes no difference. The people lose money, their payments are lowered. But the "politicians"... they get an increase in payment. It's like they are intentionally insinuating slavery. They pay us money which can basically only be used to get food, perhaps a few clothes items, pay the rent (what did slaves have? food, clothes, a place under the roof) and that's it, you're out, next payment's next month.

Also, while payments are lowered the prices of all products are increasing.

Several months ago my "government" wasted 2 billion euros on an already failed country hoping to make it "better", while we here have our own problems to take care of and they say there is no money for that. How about the 2 billion you flushed down the shitter? Fucking idiots.

As long as their pockets are overflowing they do not care at all. There is an easy fix to all that, the only way to stop it... force, and most probably the resulting blood... But people are afraid of that and the outcome could actually be even worse, esp. in a country where an average person is not that smart.
