I know, I'm against the odds here... but I use Safari (on OS X). If I were to use FF (which I do occasionally) it would probably let me know it's out and I would dl it... I know that's not really an arg, but this seems to be so unbalanced that I should share that with all of you. Now, if I find out that FF3 beats the shit out of Safari 3 from credible sources, I'll have no other choice. Side: No, not interested.
While Firefox has improved by leaps and bounds, there's simply no reason for me to take part in a marketing event sponsored by Firefox. I've already downloaded RC3 of their latest release and it's pretty good. But the time it takes Firefox to first start up is still almost three times longer than IE (atleast on my computer, other computers may vary). Lastly, there are still a few websites and applications which refuse to work with Firefox (and IE 7 for that matter). Side: No, not interested.

I'm adding an argument to this side because it's visually awkward to see such a lopsided debate. Plus, why would anybody be so passionately disinterested in a browser to effectively argue against participating in its download day? Honestly though, I can hardly even remember holidays that remain the same every year. I'll probably forget and then get it the next day. Side: No, not interested.

Will I download Firefox? Probably. Setting records is fun. Is there a good reason not to? Um, yeah, if you like Java and run Ubuntu. Firefox's Java JRE module sucks; a major drawback, and Ubuntu, being Linux-based, can run Java all day, but won't allow cross-platform calls, so no JRE-JDK crossbreeds. It's a known flaw and has been since Firefox 2.0.0.9 and Java 6, but Mozilla hasn't fixed it yet. There are some workarounds, but I still have problems on heavy Java portals with Firefox freezing solid and requiring a kill. And no, Seamonkey and Iceweasel have not fixed the problem either. Mozilla is supposed to be reconfiguring their JVM to handle the JRE 6 and up calls, but even Java 5 didn't play nicely and Sun no longer supports 4 or below. It's a mess, but I do have hope that things will improve. Side: Yes, definitely!
