Humans have tried to invade each other, so of course aliens would.

If said aliens were capable of interstellar travel then they would have to be at least tens of thousands of years more advanced than us, so why would you presume them to be as emotionally primitive as humans?

I guess, as an infamous President once said, "We'll see. but I can tell you this! I will run in and put a stop to it ... even without a gun!" (somewhat paraphrasing, of course, but, it's the thought that counts.) ;-)

It would depend on whether or not the race was hostile or not. Thankfully logic tells us that any society that could reach a technological level high enough to use interstellar travel, probably would have destroyed themselves long before reaching this level. Essentially, altruism is required for a type 3 civilization to reach type 3. But there is always an exception that proves the rule.

So let’s just hope no advanced society ever went around handing out technology, because like an 18 year old kid with a gun, a young society with technology beyond its means would most likely lash out at some point, devastatingly I might add.
