Scientists can't be sure what the shape of space-time is, but most likely, it's flat (as opposed to spherical or even donut-shape) and stretches out infinitely. But if space-time goes on forever, then it must start repeating at some point, because there are a finite number of ways particles can be arranged in space and time. So if you look far enough, you would encounter another version of you — in fact, infinite versions of you. Some of these twins will be doing exactly what you're doing right now, while others will have worn a different sweater this morning, and still others will have made vastly different career and life choices. Because the observable universe extends only as far as light has had a chance to get in the 13.7 billion years since the Big Bang (that would be 13.7 billion light-years), the space-time beyond that distance can be considered to be its own separate universe. In this way, a multitude of universes exists next to each other in a giant patchwork quilt of universes. [Visualizations of Infinity: A Gallery] Side: Yes

While it is certainly possible that an alternate universe could exist and there's definitely the possibility and nothing that says they do not exist, but there is no way to know. So while I can't put myself in the middle, I'm on this side because I have been given no good reason to say yes. Side: No

The universe my good sir or ma'm is defined as infinite. It is so vastly unexplored and large that the possibility of their being an alternate universe is still very much possible. So much so that scientists have even began making theories of such universes existing. Just something to think about. Side: Yes
Why not, if i may ask? We are not satisfied with one solar system, are we? look at the past, and you will find numerous examples of contradiction. the fact that we have NOT witnessed an alternate universe itself makes it clear that there is an alternate universe. because if we do, it will not BE an alternate universe, would it? Brian Greene says there is another him in another universe driving a pink Cadillac. Light hearted aspect aside, atheists think theists sound nuts? I'm sorry, but an eleqant equation is not evidence of a multiverse. I'm waiting for experimental evidence. When I dumped fairy tales, I dumped them all. Side: No
