does any crime deserve the death penalty

Yes, most definitely! for one, I'd say 1st degree murder should be punishable by death... take for example Ted Bundy, he was deserving of the death penalty in my book (even if he did admit he was wrong). I think there needs to be reforms when it comes to capital punishment but all in all, yes there are crimes deserving of death.

Probably killing someone?

I mean, that seems like it's a fair punishment to me.

Side: yes

yeah!!! it depends on the crime committed. if it's murder then okay... the criminal deserves the death penalty.

In the bible it clearly states "Anyone who maims another shall suffer the same injury in return: fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; the injury inflicted is the injury to be suffered. One who kills an animal shall make restitution for it; but one who kills a human being shall be put to death." This passage is from leviticus 24:19-24:21

In my religion we have a book (we call our bible) and it says that all scriptures from Leviticus are complete BS.

Who's bible do we believe?

Side: No

Some do, it there is solid, concrete, evidence such as DNA, etc.

Murder, rape, child molesters, all deserve the death penalty.

Side: depends on the crime committed

Sure, tons do.

Unfortunately our justice system is not adequate to prosecute the right person every time.

So I think it is better to imprison those who deserve death for life, rather than even once as a people murder the wrong person.

Eliminating the death penalty makes sense from every perspective, from justice served to cost I believe.

Yes. I believe that any crime deserves the death penalty.

Reasons? if someone commits any crime, then they are a criminal by definition and should die.

Also, if we started using capital punishment for all crimes, it would help with over population.

Can you say that everyone that has been convicted of crime is guilty? Killing innocent people is not justice. Many people have been acquitted long after they have been tried and sentenced.

Side: No

yes but many guilty people get away with their crime, so that balances out with the innocents that are found guilty.

Why spend our tax money on someone too keep someone alive who would rape or kill you if given the chance? Millions of dollars a year keeping murderers alive....kill them use it on something else..are we even going to notice they are gone? all well someone lost a pen pal....if its found out their innocent later...fuckem...population control.

Because we're kind and we're wise enough to dodge the death threat.

.population control.

As possible, we're not going to kill life to save another life.

I do not think that the death penalty should be given for any crimes but instead specific crimes such as murder which is heinous in nature. It depends on the severity of the crime. Why would you recommend the death penalty for someone who has committed theft when that person can be diverted to various programs? The death penalty is about specific crimes, not any crimes.

Side: No

No, I don't think any crime deserves death penalty. Mistakes may and have happened and people have been wrongly executed. Instead I would propose life imprisonment without the possibility of parole; I think it's far worse than death penalty.

Side: No

No.

The primary reason against is that there is always the possibility for wrongful conviction.

The primary reasons for-

Some crimes are so heinous that the person who committed the crime deserves to die: I would only agree to this if the execution erased the crime that was committed in the first place.

The presence of the death penalty reduces the crimes for which the penalty exists: Last time I checked, the USA was the only secular, first-world nation that still has a death penalty during peace time (although we haven't been in peace time for a while, I grant.) Most of these countries have lower rates of crime than we do. It does not appear to be much of a deterrent. Actually, given the numbers of people in jail in this country and the high rates of recidivism, I'm not sure any punishment is an effective deterrent in the US. I'm not advocating getting rid of all punishment, just the most extreme form.

Capital punishment frees up jail cells: Considering how few people we execute and how many new people enter the prison system each year, I do not see this as being a very good argument.

One compelling reason against, no compelling reasons for. So, no.

NNOOOO !!!!!!!!!! we dont kill! most people should know that!!

Jesus taught us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS HE HAS LOVED US!!!!!!!!!!! and he still loves us, so dont kill just give punishments like.....cleaning a local nieghbourhood for a month or jailed for 1 year or 2 years ETC.

CRIME DOESNT PAY TIME!

SLAUGHTER IS NOT WHAT WE ARE TAUGHT!

Side: No

The Death Penalty is cruel and unusual punishment and should be abolished. No crime should be given the Death Penalty.

Homosexuality is a way of life not a crime. Homosexuality is not rape nor murder. Recommending the death penalty for homosexuality is a speech of ignorance and childishness.

No. The only exception is being gay. That should be a crime which should result in the death penalty.

I am not for homosexuality, as a matter of fact I think it is plain wrong, but where in the world can you draw the conclusion that it is deserving of the death penalty? from the constitution? From the bible ( I just assume, because of your name maybe)? from anything (logically)?
