eBay buyers: How do you bid?

It's a simple question for those eBayers out there. Do you normally place your maximum bid early on and possibly knock up the price needlessly, or do you wait till the last minute to bid like crazy and risk being outbid?

Takes a lot of practice. Some people out there actually have programs that bid at the very last second, happened to me on a couple of occasions. I usually wait until 17 seconds. You can bid, see if someone is higher, and bid again in that much time. Like I said, it takes practice. I usually win about 95% of the time doing this.

You have to have patience and not leave the site but if you wait it out you can usually outbid the last bidder in the last seconds of the aution. I never put up a maximum bid or a bid driving the price over the top.
