Don't ask them out for the purpose of dating. Ask the out for the purpose of starting a new friendship. If this is a girl that you already know well, you probably just know the one side of here, so befriending her will help you to be better informed about the whole person. You can make your decision about getting more intimate with her from a position of knowledge. And, if you do find that you want to take it further (i.e. be more than just friends); you're already in an ideal position to work the relationship. Asking someone out for a date is bloody hard, especially when you're young. And rejection hurts like a bitch. You're not going to feel so bad if you're only asking her out as a friend and she says, "no". I'm in my 40's and that's a lesson I didn't learn until I was in my late 20's. But it worked for me. I would wait for the girl to be alone or write a note for the girl that you like that you want to meet her somewhere and put anonymous and then if she shows up you ask her out. I would before hand get roses or some kind of thing that is romantic and give it to her and then ask her out. 1
