Any such device as an iPod is, or at least should be designed to improve the efficiency of our business affairs and enhance our social lives. The accepted meaning of disruptive is to be troublesome but I guess in the context of the iPod you're referring to it's adopted definition as being innovative and avant-garde. Even so, this so called disruptive technology does not necessarily achieve the enhancement of our leisure time nor assist us in our business commitments unless used properly and we don't let ourselves become slaves to it's use. Indeed, when the ipod is overused, which it regularly is, it becomes a hinderance to our lives. Side: It so Isn't
This is another classic case where the original meaning of a word, such as gay, has been changed to mean more or less the exact opposite. Even so, the technology may be disruptive, as in ' breaking the mould' but it's not intended to 'disrupt' our lives in the way most people interpret the word. Side: It so Isn't

'Physical' disturbance: NO The iPod is small, compact and easy to take anywhere with you. As well as an inbuilt speaker, it also has the ability to plug in earphones in order to not disturb anyone else around you. There are no social disturbances with the iPod. Side: It so Isn't

Handy little devices indeed, but the rise in policing of text-driving and the increase of penalties handed out for such offences speak for themselves. People have become addicted to technology to a point where they are incapable of paying full attention to tasks such as driving, which has been responsible for numerous deaths on the road. How often to do see a car swerve on the road, only to look into the car and see the driver gazing down into their lap. Side: It so is

But this is irrelevant to the argument at hand. Affordability isn't what we're debating. It is a distraction from the world around us. Play loud music and you might not hear a car screeching towards you or a friend calling out to you not standing in your direct vision. Side: It so is
