Should GMOs be labeled?

On the ballot in a few states, including my own, is the measure to force GMO foods to be labeled on produce and groceries.

Should this be done and why our why not?

GMOs should be labeled, with the interest of keeping the consumer informed, not because they are 'bad'.

GMOs should be labeled, with the interest of keeping the consumer informed, not because they are 'bad'.

There is no scientific evidence that Genetically Modified Organisms cause health problems. All it would do is to make food prices slightly higher and support more fears that is contrary to almost all known research.

We agree on the use of GMOs and whether they are harmful, but my interest is in keeping consumers informed. If the average consumer knows just how much of the food they consume contains GMOs, then maybe the stigma will dispel.

Yes, GMO's should be labeled. Some people do fear them and may wish to avoid them. Personally I do not see much harm in GMO's since all it does is genetically change the organism so that the organism can further suit the needs of the populace.

Despite what people like to say, labeling GMO's won't really raise the price that much. Do you think it costs THAT much to put a new and improved label on something? NO, otherwise the price would raise because of that. GMO labeling won't cost any more money for those who are choosing to shop GMO free. We should be labeling the things that are unnatural (GMO's) not the natural stuff.

Define 'Natural'. Most of the plants you are eating are hybrids and are not found in nature. Just eat a wild strawberry and compare it to eating one at the store. Not to include the fact that there is no scientific evidence that genetically modified organisms cause health defects in any shape or form.

Yes, GMO's should be labeled. We should have the right to know if it's genetically modified.

Yes, GMO's should be labeled.

Why?

We should have the right to know if it's genetically modified.

Even if there is no health effects from consuming genetically modified organisms?

Side: No

I think it is a good idea. I see no harm in it. The consumer must always be kept informed.

Yes, GMOs should be labelled because its what we eat, so we surely have a right to know whats in it. Many are anti-GMO, so we should respect that and let them choose by labeling GMOs.

Side: Yes

Yes, they should be labeled because people should be able to choose the food they eat based on how many GMO's they have, and they should have the right to do what ever they want with that information. If you are scared that people won't buy your produce because of GMO's, then don't have them in the first place.

Label the non GMOs. It will be easier because there are fewer of those, plus they get an extra benefit of raising the price like organic foods.

Side: No

Companies that produce Organic food usually make absolutely sure they're products are labeled. And unless you are munching on organic, chances are pretty good your meal has a GMO in it, if you live in America anyway. In other words, we don't need to label the unlabeled one to figure out which is which. Organic producers already took care of it for us.
