i think that teens this age have opionions about who they want to be president! it isn't fair that we are downgraded because of our age. It sucks that we can't vote for who we feel would take care of america better. WE should be able to vote just like adults since we are considered young adults. Ok at the movies are tickets are $10 because we are charged as adults. If a teen of these ages murder somebody then we are trialed as adults..... so since we are considered adults so much let us try and act like adults when it come time to vote for president

I don't think that the right to vote is usually given out based on what the person pays to see a movie.

Also I don't care what you say, the majority of you are stupid kids. Even if a few teens were responsible enough to vote, it wouldn't out weigh the amount of people voting for miley cyrus.

I believe that voting should be based on a test that is taken when one turns 10, and every five years after that. If a person does not pass a test, then they should have another chance the next test admission.

That sounds like a really reasonable idea, and they actually used to have literacy tests in the south to make sure you knew what you were voting for. However, the tests just turned into a way for local governments to keep black people from voting by making them really hard and only issuing them to people they thought might be illiterate (blacks). Having voting tests basically leads to the government deciding who gets to vote, which defeats the point of a democracy (or republic in our case)

Actually i do believe that we should be able too.

I myself am 16 and i am deeply involved with politics at home

and abroad. If someone ask me a question i usually know

what I'm talking about. i believe that ages 16-17 should be

able to vote. We are your future! It's our future! So,

why shouldn't we have a part it in it?

I support you fully Mikey. You live in my home and we participate in many debates on a variety of issues. You are so intelligent and well-informed. Unfortunately, not all kids are like you. For the most part, kids view elections as popularity contests like they are voting for the Homecoming Queen. Maybe if there were some type of standardized test that could measure how well-informed the potenial voter is, I would possibly agree.

What am I saying? A lot of adults need to take that test!!!

I think that kids 15-17 should vote for president because my class is doing a persuasive text and i think we should be able to vote for president

the children of the age level 15-17 are most lovable...

i have been and i am in this age level..

I Know what my level needs to be.

We may be allowed to vote for local politicians but president is some one who is concerned with the whole country..

we are not ready for such major decisions...

this age level loves fun and takes most of the things lightly...(except for MJ)

if there is a little mistake in this voting, then there is a chance of a major danger to the whole country>> the position of the country and the life and future of the youngsters depends in the politicians...

I'm almost 17 then the next year I will be 18 so if the law changes to being 15 right after I turn 18 I'm going to be freaking pissed off! Oh, and if you aren't in charge of paying taxes to pay these politicians than you shouldn't be allowed to decide who you are giving your money to. (;

Oh my god no no no no no no NO!

Have none of you experienced high school student council elections? A conversation between freshmen (age 14/15):

Joey - "Hey Mike! Who are you going to vote for tomorrow in homeroom?"

Mike - "I wanna vote for Alexander Upperclassman."

Joey - "Me too! His speech was so funny! All the other guys were really boring."

Mike - "I know. I was falling asleep! And did you see his poster outside the cafeteria? I laughed for like 5 minutes when I saw it!"

And the conversation continues.

My point? 15-year-olds (even up to many 18-year-olds, unfortunately) do not vote based on dedication, ideals, or power. They vote based on charisma and comedy. It would be a terrible idea to lower the voting age. Sometimes I think 18 is too low and that we should go up to 21 or 20. I feel like I would be ready to make an informed decision, but I'm not so sure many of my peers could do the same.

Most kids don't take school seriously, how can you expect them to vote when they cannot respect the knowledge that sits in front of them each day?

A lot of 15-17 year olds don't pay taxes because they dont work and are considered dependent on their parents. The ones that do work need consent from the people they depend upon (their parents) to work in most states. Therefore, since you do not pay into a system, you get no representation in it. Those who do work are represented through their parents. Also, 15-17 year olds have many years to develop mentally and emotionally before they make decisions that seriously impact themselves and others. Bottom line is: 15-17 year olds are too immature and dont pay enough into the government to have a say in it.

No, I don't think ages 15-17 should be allowed to vote. People ages 15-17 aren't adults. While they may be close to adults, they are not. If you will not feel the affects of a president during his first 2 years, then you shouldn't be a ble to vote for him.

Side: No

A person between that age group does not have the maturity, yet, to vote. They must wait to be 18.
