i personally think that the age should be lowered but with limitations.

- first of all only in bars (a safe environment where they arent going to come to harm

- secondly only to a certain amount (ie they breathalize a person before they order and are only allowed a limit, decided by law)

- and thirdly onl at the barmans discression

yeah i wanna have a little sip sip. i mean i know that it tastes gross but i don't know why i still wanna try it it's not like i would ever want to get wasted ANYWAY

but i think that lowering the drinking age to let's say 18 then it would be alot more fair and then why is it that the legal age is 21 wtf is the extra year for how come it can just be 20 i mean it's like sooo f'ed up! and i wonder what happened to the people that were old enough to drink and then they changed it if any one knows the answer please email me @ [email protected] thanx

ok i dont want to consent to you going out and drinking underage or anything but here just a few pieces of advice i wish someone had given me before i gt drunk on m first time.

first of all, dont do it on your own, go somewhere with a group of friends (perferably people who have gotten drunk before so know how to look after someone who has had too much) and go to someones house and just get quietly drunk

that way you wont wonder into any roads or anything. the first time i drank we were camping in a friends field andi fell over in the middle of it. took them like 10 minutes to find me, was not a good idea.

secondly dont drink to quickely, on my first time i drank it way to quickly and it all suddenly hit me and i was way more drunk than i thought i was going to be.

also dont mix your drinks for your first couple of times, stick to either beer or cider. (dont go on the spirits) at one point i mixed vodka and wine which although suprisingly worked got me very drunk.

thirdly dont go wondering off, the ammount of times ive walked home drunk its a wonder i havent been run over, although thats sort of something you gain with experience,

finding your way home drunk is a skill, cycling it is an art (and no dont try that either)

but yeah, not that im consenting to you going out and drinking under age, but its inevitable your going to do it sooner or later an i wish someone had given me some sort of advice like that when i first went drinking because like i said on my first time i ended up faceplanting in the middle of a field with a bleeding nose having already thrown up twice that evening. (oh and if you do need to throw up, make sure you do it outside or in a toilet, or people will not be happy with you)

but yeah if you do do it, have fun and try not to do anything too stupid.

It ought be the parent's decision if their child can drink, as they know their child better then the government does. And drinking at home with your parents is already legal at any age.

By allowing children to get alcohol at a younger age on their own, it is giving them an out to circumvent their parents (if their parents don't mind them drinking, then they won't need to get alcohol themselves) and thus causes friction between the government and parents (i.e. voters).

i would go with that actually. i mean when i was under 18, it was always my mum who got me my beer and in return id tell her exactly where i was etc so she didnt have to worry. the issue with law is its very difficult to contradict itself in cirtain circumstances and it will create huge holes in civil law to only allow it in certain circumstances

I don't agree with the drinking age being lowered from 21, I like it right where its at. There really isn't any good reason to lower the drinking age.

The problem with drinking is binge drinking and it is a problem in many high schools. Teenagers go to parties and get wasted by drinking excessive amounts of achohol. There's an argument that if you make drinking for 18 year olds legal, it will make them more responsible drinkers, and less likely to binge drink. Although this may have some validity, what will happen then to the 15 year olds and the 14 year olds? By making the alchohol more accesible to 18 year olds, you inadvertantly make it accesible to younger kids in high school and even middle school. Younger age groups will become the binge drinkers and the problem just goes from bad to worse.

Research shows that the brain doesn't full develop until the age of 25 and that alchohol can hinder brain development. 21 is lenient enough in my opinion.

No offense to any English persons or residence of a lower drinking age.

true but that can happen in colledge to or to any one for that matter.

same thing always happens weare gonna go find something better to do and i don't think we would really want pay money to have a sip of boze

The drinking age should be 21 because a person is so much more mature at that age.
