It's not closed yet, but yes. The Gitmo torture prison should have never been built in the first place. It was & still is an abomination that flies in the face of the rule of law.

Guantanamo Bay is a necessity because if we close it and bring the terrorists here to OUR country then we will be giving them OUR rights for trying to kill us. The fact that a lot of them didnt do anything and are held there for no reason just gives them the reson once they are tried in our country as innocent, the reson to do something. If we close the prison and prove the terrorists innocent and let them go that'll just give them another chance to try and kill us again. They dont deserve our rights and privilages for trying to kill us anyways. Theyre there for terrorism and bad things anyways!

KEEP GITMO!!

"Guantanamo Bay is a necessity because if we close it and bring the terrorists here to OUR country then we will be giving them OUR rights for trying to kill us."

Wrong...there are rules to war, and the USA has violated them by trying to house people in extra-judicial limbo in a place that was completely controlled by the USA in the first place. Many Gitmo detainees were tortured, and the vast majority of those that were detained there were released by the Bush Regime without ANY charges.

"The fact that a lot of them didnt do anything and are held there for no reason just gives them the reson once they are tried in our country as innocent, the reson to do something."

LOL...two wrongs don't make a right yanno. There's no doubt that some of the detainees that were wrongfully imprisoned by the Bush Regime at Gitmo & other illegal places were radicalized, but that's our fault...not the innocent prisoner's fault.

"They dont deserve our rights and privilages for trying to kill us anyways."

ALL humans have rights that cannot be denied by anyone!

"Theyre there for terrorism and bad things anyways!"

LOL...guilty until proven innocent eh?? That's NOT the American way!

"KEEP GITMO"

Gitmo will be closed, period.

the supreme court has already ruled that combatants have the same rights no matter where we sequester them

so if you were falsely imprisoned does that mean we should never let you out since you might try doing something about your illegitimate incarceration if released?

Side: Good

It is not closed yet but yes because we can't have these people in prisons without habeus corpus and due process. Even though they are terrorists and marked as enemy combatants, they should have a case at court.

Guantanamo Bay should be an example what happens to people who threaten in such inhumane ways. I don't think it's about striving to be better than our enemies. Rather, it's exposing them to what they intended to do to us.

No matter what a person has done there is no excuse for the sort of psychotic and more importantly illegal things that they did there. When we resort to torture and rape we are no better then the people we imprison. We have no right to break our own laws and standards. Sorry I meant the other side.

Our country has become so twisted, every American civil rights organization, perceives terrorists being tortured in Guantanamo as a violation of their human rights, but look at it this way, if we transferred them from Guantanamo and into the prison in Illinois, as the New York Times put it, "We will save $180 million dollars by closing Guantanamo." The vacant prison in Illinois is still going to cost tax-payer money to run, so in the end, we really will not save any money. And also, about how the prisoners are treated, yes I agree we should treat them humanely, but when they threaten America's safety, and succeed in hurting America, like back on the day the Twin Towers, were hit, and killed 3000 people, it's enough to agree, that these terrorists in Guantanamo should not be treated and given basic rights, when they have declared war against the United States, by acts of terror, and succeeded. I'm glad they have not closed down Guantanamo, because those terrorists deserve to live there and contemplate what horrible things they've done. They should be thankful we haven't slaughtered them for 9/11. Going back to how twisted our country is, we consider these poor terrorists are hurt, when we don't look at ourselves, and see that we do far worse, Abortion, killing innocent babies, is infinitely destructive then punishing, and delivering justice to those who deserve it. How about we send the doctors who perform abortions to Guantanamo? I wouldn't mind.

If Guantanamo Bay never existed, there would have been a terrorist attack on Los Angeles.
