I think homework is the necessary part in our educational life. With it you will be able to understand all lessens + it will make you understand material much better! HOMEWORK will help understand everything what are you learning and and it will prepare you for the quizzes or/and tests!

no because stress to students means when thay would do worse at school or get unfocused, plus it separates them from friends and family. thay would get a loss of exersize and be cramed in there room. but no home work is bad, i think less home work is better. :)

If they are failing, teachers can stop being ignorant and give them extra practice work for them to work on instead of giving everyone tons of it.

Yes homework, because it helps students develop and master valuable skills such as time-management and self discipline, as well as responsability. Repitition is the best way to master something and doing homework gives practice, helps students think critically, and improve their test scores. It also motivates students to spend as much time as they need to review and is a valuable tool to help students remember what they learned in school. Yet an overload or excessive homework is not very necessary.

Side: yes homework

homework is good because it exersises your brain, it lets teachers know how your doing on the subject, and if you even pay attention to the subject in class

Homework encourages students to work more independently, as they will have to at college and in their jobs. Everyone needs to develop responsibility and skills in personal organization, working to deadlines, being able to research, etc. If students are always “spoon-fed” topics at school they will never develop study skills and self-discipline for the future. A gradual increase in homework responsibilities over the years allows these skills to develop . For instance, to read a novel or complete a research project, there is simply no time at school to do it properly. Students have to act independently and be willing to read or write, knowing that if they struggle, they will have to work through the problem or the difficult words themselves. Diane Ravitch points out that a novel like Jane Eyre cannot be completed if it is not read at home – students have to work through it themselves .

No! You must spend most of your life working! It's the only way to live.

When kids have more time to goof around it allows for more useless information to bounce around in their noggins!

Their minds will be focused on all the goofiness, thusly causing them to miss important information that would otherwise get them good grades and get them a good job in the future!

Yes, I think that we should have homework because for some people, they don't learn as fast as others. For me, I don't have a problem with not understanding the work being given to me while at school but as the saying goes, practice makes perfect. You can always learn more ways and be faster at doing whatever you're learning at school. -Carvel Kelly

I say we should have homework because homework actually helps us a lot and for the people who are saying we shouldn't are not making sense because when you do homework you can check over it and it makes us students and teachers work more closely together like in class when they go over the homework with us and homework actually brings families together too a little when the parents and children work together to answer the questions.Homwork helps me get a better understanding of the work when I'm doing it because I go over it and I have notes to help me as well.

homework should be given , otherwise the student face a great pressure in exams time

and if student do the homework and learn all the thing side by side after the explanation of teacher it help the student to score good marks and freely give the exams. Now the student after coming back home from school was free if there will be no homework and he also feel bored that's why homework is given so that the student do not get bored and can give the exams without taking any type of stress.

Because everything in limit is good but the access of that thing make us bored...

Homework is very important to improve and consolidate knowledge. Without these assignments, you will not be able to learn the lesson learned, and then pass the exam. Pledge of good learning, high-quality homework. And if you have any difficulties with the assignment from the college, then buy assignment on Edusson AU writing service for help from professional writers at a good price and on time. Many students are too lazy and therefore do not do their homework and this leads to problems in learning. Therefore, you need to do the job and ask for help.

Students are always assigned homework at school. But many students are calling for it to be abolished. They always grumble about having to do work after school. But I strongly believe homework is beneficial and should be kept. It is very useful and teaches students.

Firstly, homework helps students understand the subject better and solidify their knowledge and therefore, improves their academic performance. Also, students can learn more by themselves while completing homework and going over their work again. They can pick up the knowledge they missed or didn’t understand through homework. So it is very educational for students and benefits them.

Secondly, homework teaches students responsibility about their work. Students learn responsibility through controlling themselves and managing the work. When a student gets back home and is tempted by other activities such as surfing the internet but resist the temptation and do homework, they develop control and responsibility. This all proves homework is beneficial to growing responsibility in a student.

In conclusion, homework is beneficial to a student and should be used. It helps students understand a subject better and can pick up knowledge the students missed in class. Homework also helps a student to grow their responsibility and control by themselves.

Most of you have heard at least one time before "you can’t watch T.V. until you finish your homework." Haven’t you? Well if you haven’t your very lucky. But what is the point of homework you may ask well me and a couple of experts on school and test taking believe that in fact there is no point. Let me outline the facts. Number one homework wastes a lot of time, number two homework has little educational value and number three homework makes you feel even more tired and stressed than you already are. Those are simply the facts. Be warned all of you who love homework I’m about to put a tip on this point!

First of all, homework not only takes up a lot of time but it wastes a lot of time! Time that could be spent doing many other things like interacting with family, or playing outside with friends, maybe even cleaning up your community. Recent studies show that most students have only one hour of homework a night. Well I honestly don’t know which students they surveyed because it wasn’t me, or anyone in my school for that matter. Because almost everyday someone I know says their exhausted because of how much time they spent doing homework the previous night. It squeezes out every last drop of time you have to relax or be active and leaves you tired, cranky, and in a bad mood. It really is just a big waste of perfectly good time.

Next, Homework has very little educational value. It was actually tested and students that did homework got the same test scores as kids who didn't do homework. On the other side they say that there isn't enough time in school to cover the subjects. But honestly after 7 hours of school I think we've covered everything we need to and then some. But apparently the teachers don't think so because they load on as much as 3 hours of homework. Although the kids I know usually hardly try so it doesn't really help. Also how do the teachers know it's really even the kids work, if maybe the kid cheats? To be honest I don't think it helps kids academically to know how to cheat.

Finally, homework is almost always done when a kid is already tired from a long day at school. As a result the kid usually doesn't even try. So what's the point is what I'm asking. He/she will rush through it so he/she can get to bed. Imagine this you go to school take 2 tests in science and math your worst subjects, tests you were up all of the previous night studying for, then forget your project for social studies at home, at lunch you drop your tray but are out of money and the school is out of food, then when you get to P.E. you have to run the pacer and you only get to 5 because your shoelace comes untied and you trip and fall. When you think it's finally over and you can go home and relax think again; you have 30 problems in math, a social studies review with 64 questions, science and english packets, and a project for your foreign language class all due tomorrow. That amount of homework isn't all that unusual and neither is the stress.

So hopefully now you understand what I'm trying to say. Homework is A.) A waste of time B.) Pointless in the academic spectrum and C.) tires kids out even more than they already are. Really this much homework is insane and unnecessary and it's not making our future generation any smarter. It's actually making us lose our minds and our social lives. So go ahead teachers keep on assigning pointless homework tasks that supposedly reinforce what we learned in the classroom. Really they just bore us to sleep when we lay down for the 2 minutes it takes us to guess on every problem so we can get some sleep. You teachers want to know why test scores are dropping it's because most kids are tired after being up all night working on homework and then sitting down in front of a test their too exhausted to see and trying to figure out the answers. Us kids only have one childhood so let us live it!

I don't see the point in forcefully assigning more work after your lessons at school are over. Sure, if you do them, they may boost your grade up, but for those who have already grasped what they've needed to learn, homework is simply a time waster- well, it's either that, or you'll risk lowering your grade beyond recovery. Personally, I throw an average of at least three to four hours away EVERY SINGLE DAY due to this. And to rub salt into those wounds, it's on things I have already learned throughout the day! There's no point in writing or doing something that I already know! If you really and truly need more work to understand something, that's up to you to carry it out- whether it means a reward or not. Perhaps, for the people who have pored in extra work from home, they can get bonus points or something. I'm in 10th grade, have a job, and would dearly love to have some time to myself on the weekdays.

a load of homework

I don't know about you, but I don't know any teachers that are really like the ones on TV. Most homework takes less than 1-2 hours to complete. No teacher is going to tell a student that a 10 page paper is due the next day after they just assigned it...but then again, you seem to think so...

for completing the homework they will get up early and lose their sleep which will affect their health

Here's an idea! Do your homework at night before you go to bed. If a student gets out of school at 5:00pm after practice of whatever, then they still have about 6 hours to get everything thing else done before 11 that night.

Homework creates a pessimistic attitude in children towards learning and education. This can actually be detrimental to their actual capacity to learn. Furthermore it is much more difficult to complete homework because of the numerous distractions at home, making learning a chore. Learning should never be a chore.

Learning is greatest when we do not even realize we are doing it.

Side: no home work

Homework should not be assigned to students for these reasons:

1. It causes incessant stress and sleep deprivation. High school students need at least eight hours of sleep every night but most students spend most of their nights awake, working on homework.

2. Homework can be done succinctly and concisely, without any focus or interest in actually trying to learn. If homework was not assigned, students would have more interest on the subjects rather than try to get their required work done.

3. Students, especially high schoolers, have activities and clubs outside of school, so excessive homework takes up too much of their time.

4. Proponents of homework think homework is important just because "more is better" but an overload can actually reduce academic achievement.

5. People think that homework can improve children's responsibility and organization skills but in actuality, parents are the ones who organize children's homework starting from their early school years.

6. Some say that homework keeps children out of trouble but experts say that children spark new ideas and creativity when they are not in structured time.

7. Homework can lead to obesity because they do not have enough time for outdoor activities and no time for family or household chores.

I believe a small reasonable amount of homework is okay, but kids spend 8 plus hours in school and should be out doors and being active. Homework is really unfair, I am a middle school-er and I get around 2-5 assignments most days, sometimes more. I think we shouldn't have homework since school already uses an average of 8 hours a day but with homework? It's just to much. We also need family time. I feel like giving up on school because of the amount of homework I get. I just started 6th grade and I stress out so much, when I'm having fun I remember the amount of homework I have and I just explode. I don't concentrate enough while at home either since there are so much things to do. I keep getting bad grades because of my homework are it really isn't fair mostly because I want to have fun when I get home from a long day of school but remember the loads of homework and stress out. Instead of getting homework I would suggest none at all or expand the days of school for more work. I'm beginning to lose my motivation in doing homework when I think about it. Could someone at least get rid of homework as a law or something?! I've stressed out more then I do my homework and I'm only in 6th grade! I spend half of my life on going to school then homework then just grow up and work for even more work? This curriculum is messed up, since I'm only a 6th grader someone fix this freaking problem. ''Homework's good for you.'' Yeah right, homework only messes up your opinions of school and makes you wanna quit. Plus it just adds stress. Now that it's 2015 homework is not how is was back in 1990. So the adults don't know how hard this generation is. My grades are a HUGE mess because of homework. I'm not trying to say I'm lazy or anything but when homework interferes with my home life I basically give up when my homework's in front of me, which it is at the moment. I do want to get good grades, I really do but this is too much for some people to handle. Don't expect your standards to make everyone pass. Just saying. If you hate me for saying this go ahead I'm saying this through a computer so its much easier and you don't know who I am so I don't care anymore. I'm actually pretty smart in class but homework is stupid. I say as a fact. There are more reasons that homework shouldn't be allowed than if it should. Homework doesn't help me at all, studying does. I can write a 5 page essay of why homework shouldn't be allowed in school. It should just be extra-credit or a reference sheet.

Here's something to contribute. There have been conflicting studies about homework recently. See, there are studies that show that a longer school day can be completely substituted for homework with better results. This is true for a multitude of reasons.

Studies have shown that (and some schools have done this), not every kid who doesn't have a mathematitian for a father is peter parker. What I mean by that is, some poor kids may struggle with the math(example) and not be able to afford a tutor. They may not have a parent who majored in mathematics. So, having more repetitive practice exercises done in class instead of homework actually is more fair to those students.

Other studies have shown that it doesn't take that much homework to prove that a student can do the math etc. themself. It only takes on average five to ten problems, maybe one or two on each different type of math problem described in class.

Further more, Japan does exactly what I'm saying with a number of other countries. And these countries' students all of higher test scores than we do. Certain Asian and European countries do this and it works. They just have longer school days like I said earlier.

Also, tons of studies have shown that being overstressed actually affects one's focus, thus making them less willing to work hard to master the material. Fixing this would make kids ditch school much less.

And lastly, studies have also shown that having time to read and have intellectual hobbies where they can learn to think on their own actually improves one's brain in some very needed ways which leads me to my truly final points.

One can't learn everything from school. The system of the country is set up right now so that school is what one has to do to achieve in life. That's not how it is though. I mean, Steve Jobs had to teach himself electronics and programming. He learned a lot of what he learned by thinking on his own and being a self starter. Studies also show this to be true, that being a self starter actually teaches one to think which helps them in school.

For homework, there's no point because we stay in school for 8 hours and still get forced to go home and do more work. Some people might be unable to do homework but will still get punished for not doing it. It's just stupid. We actually need a proper vote for this so that there will officially never be homework ever again.

It wastes so much of your child's time, when my daughter gets home from school she goes straight into her room and does her homework for over 3 hours. There is way to mush pressure and stress on young children. When they get home from school they should relax after a long day of working non-stop but instead they have to do even more work. If my daughter does not hand in her homework or forgets to do it she gets punished at school and has to either have detention or walk around the school for the whole of lunch picking up rubbish in her own time. That is stupid! My daughter is getting piles of homework for all her subjects and on top of that it has to be done by the next DAY! Teachers need to stop giving out homework they already do how much work at school. It does not help them understand there work more or increase their skills it just stresses them out and makes them angry and upset. These teachers who give out homework are not thinking about there after school activities, my daughter does dance at 4:00 and then finishes at 8:00 this gives only a couple hours to complete her work, first she has to eat her dinner and then by the time she's done it is nearly 9:00. Which is her bed time. She's stays up way to late trying to finish her homework and the next morning she is tired and can't focus properly. These kids are at a young age they need there sleep to have energy for the next day. All these kids who are staying up late doing homework are grumpy and tired the next day this means they can't concentrate at school. Some homework that they do is too difficult and me and my husband are unable to help our daughter because it is too hard even for us. If her homework isn't done she gets punished. My daughter comes home crying sometimes because of the amount of pressure her teacher are giving her. Even if she tells her teacher that she did not understand it or it was to heard they still PUNISH HER!!!!!! This is ridiculous and I know there are so many parents out there who agree with me. We need these teaches to stop giving them homework for good, if my daughter has a test coming up she will go through her notes to refresh her memory which is up to her to do it's NOT THE TEACHER"S DECISION!!!!!!!! My daughter even gets homework that she has to do over the weekend and projects that she has to complete in her own time during the HOLIDAYS!!!! That two day break that you get before you go back to school is for relaxing and to hang out with friends, do fun stuff but NO teachers give them homework and they are locked up in there rooms doing more work. If there going to give them work to do on the weekends why don't they just GO TO SCHOOL!!!!!! I have complained to my daughters school to get rid of homework but no they say that it benefits their learning and more nonsense like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want my daughter to be happy not miserable and upset we need to stop homework for good. For our child's health HOMEWORK NEEDS TO STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Homework, most people dread it

Find it infuriating, stressful and time consuming

What’s the point in doing homework when we already do 6 hours of work at school, waking up at 6 for most people getting in a vehicle or walking to get school, school is already basically a slaughter house for stress, building up loads of bad thoughts and bullying, nowhere for the stress to go so its kept in, even the name is annoying and bugging, Home – Work, school work is not meant to be done at home its meant for school, especially when people are told to do Dumb or stupidly hard homework and plus the fact that the homework we get is normally something we done in school what’s the point in doing it again?

Why would anyone want to do homework work is meant to be done at school, because if you think of it, we might as well do the homework at school while our brains are working and not trying to relax at school, plus you wouldn’t have to wait a day to see how to do a question if you don’t know how to do it, and also most year 10s like us are doing / trying to get work experience which is Super stressful, because you have to look for people and call them and most are rather full or not doing it, so your basically calling random people to see if they are doing work experience or if there is a free space to do the work experience.

Plus,

Most of the homework is normally Too easy or Stupidly hard which there is no point in doing, because people can just copy each other’s homework so there is really no point in doing homework, no one likes getting told of for rather not doing it or not being able to do it, because who does like getting told of barely anyone, getting forced into doing homework and if it’s not done you get told of or get detentions everyone hates them.

Another Version

What’s the point in doing homework when we already do 6 hours of work at school, waking up at 6 for most people getting in a vehicle or walking to get school even the name is annoying and bugging, Home – Work, work is not meant to be done at home its meant for school because if you think of it, we might as well do the homework at school while our brains are working and not trying to relax at home, plus you wouldn’t have to wait a day to see how to do a question if you don’t know how to do it, And Most year tens right now are doing or trying to get work experience which would be a lot more important than some dumb homework, plus most homework is rather; easy, too hard, time consuming and most importantly STRESSFUL.

If you had a choice would you chose to get rid of it or keep it?

A Survey of 1000 parents was taken and it was found that 83% of them parents done the homework or done most of it.

Homework actually is bad for kid because homework stresses students and stress lowers the rate of learning in a child

Homework is busywork 90% of the time. It only ever reiterates what was gone over in class, so it can never teach anyone anything new. Homework grades don't come close to representing knowledge, intelligence, or any other meaningful representation of a student's mental abilities.

Sometimes homework isn't even relevant to the class. How many times have you been handed a word search as a homework assignment? There's no point to that! It's busywork! It's a trick to get the administration to believe that the students are actually learning something!

Not only that, but homework never changes. I was walking through the third-grade corridor recently, and they had pinned up worksheets exemplifying the commutative property. This would be okay, but that's literally the same stuff that had been covered that very day in Algebra 1! SIX YEARS LATER! That's a problem. Spiral review, they call it, because you go over the same stuff, but adding to it each time. That 'spiral' looks a whole lot like a circle! I bet I could give my fifth grade brother my Algebra 1 homework, and he'd do better than half the kids in my class!

In summary, not only is homework irrelevant and unnecessary, but it serves only a detrimental purpose in schools, that of making students think they loathe learning, when they really only loathe school.

Homework could be seen in many ways valuable, yet also invaluable. However, homework has gotten to the point where it is overloading students and they do not have enough time to sleep, much less participate in extracurricular activities. I understand having practice work is okay (to a limited extent), but for example, essays that are supposed to be 3-5 pages due the next day? No thank you. Especially when your teacher decides to announce STEM Fair, Math Leagues, new essays, history projects, a history test, a grammar test, a science test, and that's just the four main subjects in school! Then our teachers come complaining to our parents saying that we are not completing all the assignments given out. How are students supposed to complete every assignment when a new one pops up right after? I go to sleep at midnight and occasionally have to wake up at around 3-4 AM to complete my homework before school starts. The fact that soon finals are going to start soon is not helping. I would suggest schools to give homework to students who actually need extra practice, not just handing out essays and book reports whenever. Weekends are the worst. Students end up working on their homework throughout the entire two days they are supposed to get a 'break' and go back to school feeling even more stressed! In school, there is also something called drama and peer pressure that most teachers tend to ignore when handing out assignments whenever they please. So on top of all the social stress students are receiving, they are also getting educational stress. And when we're home, we tend to distance ourselves from our families more often because of homework, which makes everything tense, and even more stressful.

So I beg schools, please, please fix the system and accept that you are not in all cases, correct. Teachers should actually put in the extra effort to learn which students know the topics they are teaching, and which ones don't. And if they don't, give them a VERY LIMITED amount of practice work as homework.

How Does Homework Affect Students' Health? Homework can affect both students' physical and mental health. According to a study by Stanford University, 56 per cent of students considered homework a primary source of stress. Too much homework can result in lack of sleep, headaches, exhaustion and weight loss.

Less than 1 percent of the students said homework was not a stressor. The researchers asked students whether they experienced physical symptoms of stress, such as headaches, exhaustion, sleep deprivation, weight loss, and stomach problems.

homework causes stress and we need a break why give us homework in OUR TIME !!

its giving extra work we go to school for 6hrs in a week we get up to 2-4hrs worth of work.

when some people don't get their homework done they stress out because they're under so much pressure to get it done and then it can result in medical problems

Well, why the hell should there be homework, I just started fifth grade and they assign me a lot of work and I have to wait until 5:00 for the school day to be done and I have 3 hours of homework a night and I want a break. I hope ministers see this so they could get rid of the damn homework forever. Imagine that what would you do when you were in high school in my shoes. You are going to be working from 9:00 am all the way to 7:00 pm which is entirely annoying.
