i don't believe one will happen just being devils advocate. there are currently many types of brain parasites in animals that can rapidly evolve and potentially take over human brains turning us into zombies. not to mention the U.S. military is perfecting nano bots. for those of you who don't know they are like robotic parasites and computer hacking mechanisms which are microscopic. look just read the link its interesting, funny, and potentially true. It can happen. There are millions of types of viruses just waiting out there to kick our ass big time. A nasty virus+ badly designed nuclear reactor= Zombie utopia. And the Rabies virus already turns people into sort of zombies. Should it mutate to effect faster, I won't see much of a future for humanity Side: it will happen

The only way it would be possible, would be if they were similar to the "zombies" of 28 days later a cross over of the rabies virus that doesnt make you rot away as your walking! Most other zombies rely on the supernatural and as I dont believe in the super natural then I naturally believe that a rabies crossover virus is really the only thing possible! Side: it will happen
There's actually been a scientific investigation into the possibility of a zombie apocalypse, and the opinions of scientists confirm what many of us have suspected - a zombie apocalypse COULD happen, but it would differ slightly from the movie-glamorized zombie. The hypothesized zombie would not be an undead - the individual would still be alive, but would be infected with a hybrid rabies-flu virus. Such a hybrid would be capable of spreading extremely quickly and turning its victims into potentially ravenous, cannibalistic monsters, in essence, the RAGE virus. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/ Not to mention the CDC has a Zombie Apocalypse Preparedness article on their website - they said it was just all in good fun, but I have my doubts. From what I know about zombies (not a whole lot). I think that there are mainly two different types that should be addressed separately. One type, I’ll call the ‘true zombie,’ is for all intents and purposes, considered dead but still walks around for some reason. It is a slow shuffling, mindless cadaver which craves living human flesh or brains. I don’t believe such a thing is very likely to happen. The other type of zombie is not really a zombie because it’s not really “dead” per se. It is still alive but infected with some kind of disease which makes it lose all control and inhibition. The disease also makes them furiously assault uninfected humans. An example of this type would be from movies like “28 days later,” or “I am legend” (the movie not the book). This type of zombie doesn’t seem as farfetched as the true zombie, but I still think it is pretty improbable to actually happen. Side: it wont happen

I agree. I do not think it would happen, but if it did because of parasite they is no parasite close enough to be able to do it, and for the closest parasite to evole in to that it would take many thousands of years. You do not honestly believe radiation would do that? In reality radiation does not turn you in to spider man, all what will happen is getting radiation poisoning, this may lead to a cancer. This is a pretty open question though, zombies as in supernatural demonic or some sought of disease. Not enough evidence for either though. Side: it wont happen
First off it take millions of years for something to evolve. Second the infected individuals in 28 days/weeks later were NOT zombie. The virus just sent them into a uncontrollable rage, hence the name "Rage" virus. Then if the the government did invent nanobots and lost control of them, then it would be considered ROBOTIC not zombie Side: it wont happen
