Honestly though we're already on the verge of getting to the point where computers have self awareness. It's only a matter of time before we get there. Unless we hit a gigantic roadblock and all technology stops getting more advanced. Don't think that will happen any time soon though.

You're talking about now. What do you think of the future? Design can be steered endlessly. Our brains have for the most part stopped evolving.
