No matter where you are there is something creative going on at an point in time. As in the school we are here for 180 days and more then 100 different classes to choose from. they made school like that because everyone is different and like different things in life. So I think the opposite of the question cause I think school enhances creativty such as Art Class, Theater Class,etc..

I believe that schools do not kill creativity. In elementary I was always told express myself in pictures, now in high I’m told to express my creative side through writing. Yes being creative at school is some what limited not dead. There are rules that need to be followed but this doesn't mean that you have to stop your creativity. It just means that you got to watch what your being creative about.

No, I do not belive that schools hinder creativity. With all of the clubs and extracuricular activities that the school provides almost everyone should be able to find something to express there own idividual creativity. Art, music, sports, and even academics, there are many orginazations that schools allow for students to do what it is that they like.

well I think sometimes because every day is the same routine and that's really boring, and i thiink the school need more programs that can help to the performance of the students but first that all the school needs new ideas that they can elevate the level of atencion of each student...

Schools offer plenty of classes that allow you to be creative. Art, BIMM, web mastering, choir, theater and cosmetology are a few classes that give enough the freedom to express ideas. School is where I have had the most oppurtunity to be creative. I've been able to make my own websites, design buildings, and make clothes which takes plenty of creativity. So if that isn't enough oppurtunity i dont know what is. Students have to be push to be creative, that's what being creative is all about.

I think schools do not kill creativity because they have many organizations to get people involved. These organizations get your creativity going by making you think of ways to make school entertaining. For example, the homecoming committee has to make homecoming fun so people will keep going. So they have to use their creativity.

Really it depends on the teacher. Some teachers stick strictly to books, resources, reading, and Internet. For example Mr.Mountain is strictly vocab, papers, and Internet. We never make posters or design anything, besides essays which is really tiring after a while. Also another example is when i took coach Powe's sociology class. We were always making something a poster, a book, a sign, and many other things and it all delt with the lessons we were supposed to be learning. so every teacher has their own way of teaching but to me when the student can have fun and be creative in process they are more willing to do the work.

Creativity is important. I would have to say, Irving MacArthur does not kill creativity. I cant say school as in plural because i have no idea if other schools do. The majority of the teachers at Mac are looking for creativity especially while doing different type of projects and etc.. Im pretty sure teachers get tired of seeing the same thing on every paper. When teachers go home and grade projects, they want to be interested by how different one is from the next because if they are all the same im pretty sure they get tired of seeing them. And of course you have to stay within the guide lines of things but they also are free with letting you put your own twist on things.

Not every student wants to dress in clothes that are not allowed. I don't have any problems with dress code, and I ware whatever I want to.

I dont think the school kills creativity. The school has many classes and clubs for students to enroll in. These courses let out the creativeness in students.

The students choose if they want to be creative or not.

I feel that a good school can not only bring the creativity out of you, but give you chances to use your creativity and help you expand you creativeness. People need school to help give them what it takes to be creative. School gives you knowledge and knowledge is power, a power that will give you more options and choices including your expressions of creativity.

I don't think it kills creativity because some schools don't even have laptops, and the schools are nice enough to even give us some. Some people like working in groups instead of using laptops because these laptops are not light at all. Then, we have kids here that don't even appreciate electronic, but unlike them i do because it saves less paper i have to write on everyday. Finally, I like the laptop even though it's heavy sometime it be coming in handy when i don't feel like writing on paper.

schools are meant to create creativity in the student. some believe that schools kill creativity just because they don't get to run and jump down the hall way. even if this kind of behavior was creative no one would remember their creativeness of running and jumping. i know not all schools have a lot of money or really nice principals, but a school is a safe place to practice and learn how to be creative.

In my opinion, I feel that the school systems do not kill the creativity, but opens us up to new opportunities. Teachers like a little creativity mixed in with your work. I know with my personal experience that my teachers appreciate the added effort that i put in to my work. For example, when i work on class projects, I like to add a little aspect as to who i am into my work. When you add creativity into your work, it shows the teacher that you put a lot of pride into what your working on. As a result, I would not say that schools kill creativity, but open up doors to new opportunities to expand your imagination.

its really depends on how u look at it i believe that the creativity is not killed but rather expanded by the many different electives in school to choose from and the people in there that will share there ideas and expand ur ideas and have everyone's creativity and fill the world with new ideas and expanded new ideas

I think that schools somewhat kill our creativity because we really don't have much to do but follow the school rules. But just because we can't do what we want to in school doesn't mean that it kills our creativity. We still get to share our thoughts, come up with new ideas, and do all kinds of different things. Besides our creativity doesn't just have to be in school. It can be anywhere you want it to be. So i think that the schools don't kill our creativity it just feels like it does.

Even so, schools only mean to promote creativity. That is why every school varies with their classes because every school is hoping to teach the next guy who invents something that may change the world in one way or another. So in a way, each school is exhorting creativity and self-expression.

I'm indifferent about this specific topic. Some schools make you wear uniforns and take specific classes. At our school we have many different art classes and other classes where you can show your creative sides. Every week our school has a theme for all of our games and you get to dress up, it's lots of fun seeing our friends clothes and stuff.

School does not kill creativity. It helps creativity. When your bored or have nothing to do you think about things, which helps you be more creative.

No, On the other hand schools promote creativity. Creativity is more than arts and crafts, the wide variety of classes and activities give students the ability to choose and explore what ever they want. If it wasn’t for schools would students really be able to know that they are masterful artist or a great guitar player. Even more than that schools widen the creativity spectrum to include such things as Debate, acting sports and a variety of other subjects. With out schools the opportunities to even be creative would be quite scarce

Saying schools kill students creativity seems a little shallow. If anything, I would say schools do tend to limit students creativity in different areas, as well as enhancing their creativity. Students creativity isn't dead, it is very much alive. Many of us make a big deal out of the little rules that are placed upon us, which makes it seem as if our creativity is revoked, thus we try our best to find little ways to work around them. I agree some of the rules that we have to follow do seem a little out of the box, but one thing we need to remember is they are made for a reason. If a student is really as creative as they say they are, then why can't they just find another creative way to express themselfs as and artistic individual they are?

Personally my overall feelings on the subject are that schools don't exactally kill creativity. We are the ones that kill it! It's not hard to step out and be an individual within specific guidelines. Showing who you are and what you are about doesn't just depend on what you dress like, or look like, it's more about how you present yourself, how you react in a situation like this, and how we handle it.

Creativity is everywhere. Whenever a person thinks of a new idea, he is being creative by using his imagination. I belive that schools do not kill creativity. Students think that school is just a place just to come and learn and study. Thats wrong. School is a place where you can come and share new ideas and have fun and leran how to do new things. There are many activities in the school that require students to come up with new ideas and use their imagination. Therefore, i believe that school is the most important place to be creative.

I believe that in school you begin to find and create your own creativity. One reason this is true is because you are faced with hardships or problems you have to face on your own in a creative way. No other person can help you with a situation dealing with personal things that are involved in school the only way you can get the job finished is by being creative and finding a solution. I also believe that in school teachers motivated you to become more creative with the assignments they give you.

I dont think that school kills creativity. this school has a lot of classes that allow you to express yourselves in a creative way. Like art for example. you can draw anything you want and you have to be creative so that you painting can stand out.

Some schools do "kill" creativity in things like clothing. for example private schools. Someone who has been in a public school their whole life and transfers to a private school junior year they would be in for a surprise. Most private schools tell you what to wear, what kind of shoes to wear, even what kind of lanyard to use for your school ID (which would be the school lanyard or you would be fined.) On certain days every single student would have to wear the exact same colored uniforms. There is also no un natural hair colors allowed. Even on "free dress days" there is not much you can do different. I think that most public schools have been extremely open minded when it comes to allowing kids to show their creativity or individuality. At least they haven't killed it when it comes to expression through clothing.

I feel as though school doesn't kill creativity. Yeah, some people may think that all the creativity may be limited because of Mrs. Bean but its not like she took away everything like art, band, kmac, firetruck crew, and all the other organiziations that we have that are creative. I dont think people see that in the real world, if you have a job you're limited to how creative you can be also. So i say no, school doesnt kill creativity.

I think that school's dont nececerly kill a students creativity, because a person can be as creative as they want. Sometimes theirs people like teachers that dont let a student really show their creativity, the teachers have a lesson plan for the day but sometimes thats not the easiest way to do the assignment, so a students wants to make it work by doing what he knows how to do. Then the teacher gets mad because the student was not following directions, and gets a bad grade. So i dont think a school can kill a students creativity, but their is other barriers that can stop a students mind.

The students are the one ones who kill the creativety. The school is not to blame if we have to wear uniforms or dont have enough school activties such as pep rallies or field trips. The students are to blame, because we always take advantages of the privliges the school gives us and thats why some schools aren't as lucky as we are, but all that could change if we keep taking advantage of our school.

I agree and disagree about school killing creativity. I mean it depends on how you show your creativity some people show it through there clothes and others through art and dance. Clothing is one of the reasons i disagree on schools killing creativity if you walk down the halls of Mac Arthur you'll see girls with green or blue hair, you'll see people with all sorts of styles and creativity that the school has allowed them to wear. With art and dance i agree the school kills creativity. Some students may think that dancing around half naked with paint on them is creative but the teachers and everyone else might think its crazy one student might think that a rainbow painted gun means something to them but the schools quick to resort that to violence. So how do you decide whats creative and whats not.

Schools don't kill a students creativity, they just put certain limits on how creative they can be. Many schools try to help students learn the potential of thier creative mind, by teaching them to harness it and use it properly, it may seem that they are holding back thier creativity at times but they are jus teaching them how to use it to thier advantage. Students are creative all the time during school, they are creative in the sports they are doing, they are creative in what they choose to draw in art, they are creative in what role they want to play in theatre, and students become creative largely in thier essays and stories. So school gives kids subjects to be creative in, so in no way does school kill creativity.

What defines Creativity? Is it who we are? What we do?

Schools don't neccessarly kill creativity, maybe they do depending on how you look at it. We are a little limited to our dresscode, our entertainment, and the way we can express ourselves. That is not to say the school killed it, because there are so many other ways that we can be creative. Personally I think that teachers could teach in a more creative way, or outside the box. Most of them take the normal route thus hindering my ability to learn, and hold my attention.

Well it depends on the school. Does the school have after school activities and clubs, or a good fine arts department, and how about the sports? If the school has those then no they are not killing the creativity because their are many things that you can join and be your self. But if the school doesnt have those and is strict then, yes, they are killing creativity because you can not be your self.

No, I do not believe that schools kill creativity, nor do they want to. Infact, there are collages that are just for people that want to be creative.

In highschool there are plenty of chances to be creative. Some classes are for creativity and some are not. It just depends on what you want do do.

i disagree, if you express yourselves in clothing,

and they do not like the clothing you are wearing

its YOUR creativity that can change that. Like wearing different things can make your creativity expand more than it is.

Schools can't kill creativity. Its not the schools fault that your creativity is destroyed, it is YOU that destroyed your creativity. Teachers may expand your creations by using some guide lines to challenge you. Yes, it may be difficult and you disapprove with the rules, yet that's what makes your creativity stronger than it is right now.
