the only reason the macs are better at word processing is because they use "MICROSOFT OFFICE", the only reason they notice it is because of mac's more stylish outlook.

fraid that ain't true anymore, macs have been getting viruses now, just not as many simply because they only take up 10% of the market.

reasons for pc

1. better games

2. chances are a program will almost always be for pc but not always for mac, and for those garage band fans, there are alternatives for pc which could hold their own against garage band.

3. When you have a problem with the mac you have to go to a mac store and possibly pay tons just to get something that a pc solves online on open source sites.

4. I'm using a mac right now and let me say that most of the features that they hold dear can be found one way or the other for pc or linux. What does it have? aesthetics and only aesthetics.

Mac's are very expensive, and as far as I know, The windows operating system is much easier to learn. I tested out a Mac in a store once and I didn't know what anything was or how anything worked.

I agree with pvtNobody here, the mac OSes just don't stack up. They're made for simplicity but without the ability to adapt and change at a level as the Windows and Linux operating systems it'll lag behind. Linux was primarily built around the Unix model:

Make a kernel

Make software

Apply software to kernel

Polish into an OS

The only reason Mac lost its only chance to beat windows is because back in the earlier days everything that was developed for the mac operating system had to be developed EXCLUSIVELY for the mac operating system. Including software, hardware, and even peripherals. This makes it very hard to obtain specs for the open-source community and the great internet god flows from the open-source community.

Before we see Mac rise to power, believe me, we'll see Linux or Unix do just that.

On a side note, most servers and even the most powerful PC in the world runs Linux. It's versatile and easy to change due to the way it operates. So it's easy for enterprises to change it to fit their needs.
