I think that a government is necessary and good for a country because of all the work it does for the people, specifically the behind the scenes work. While Democracy allows many people to throw in their two cents and discuss what the government should and should not do, I think most everyone can agree that the conveniences that the government provides are necessary for societal function. Like that story we read in class demonstrated, imagine a world where there are no government regulations. You wouldn't know what exactly you were putting on your plate. You wouldn't know where your glass of milk came from, much less where all the tap water in your house is coming from, or if it is safe to drink. There would be no police force or fire department to protect citizens and enforce order and peace. Companies that know that they are necessary for public function can drive their prices up without penalty. The government provides regulations and sanctions that help the public function, along with emergency services that keep people healthy and safe. In conclusion, I believe that a government is necessary for a country to function, and creates many opportunities for a country to flourish.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
