There is mountains of evidence to indicate that the current global warming trend is due to human activity, and you can find it here: http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/
You make a complete fallacy by suggesting that the fact you and others attempt to contradict solid scientific evidence means that we do not have enough evidence...its non sequitur.
Environmental arguments come first from scientific research, not politics. Similarly, just because liberal politicians supposedly make money from the idea of anthropogenic global warming does not mean that it is not happening...if Stalin got £1000 for every time he said "1+1=2", that does not mean 1+1=2 is not true...
As for Penn & Teller...that video is chock-full of spin and falsehoods. http://www.scientificblogging.com/
A "better life" is a complex issue, but we can loosely define it as being satisfaction with life, having personal freedom of thought and expression, and being safer in general, among other things.
I will show, through clear, pragmatic and objective analysis, that Europeans have better lives than Americans, and therefore that the EU is a better place to live in than the US.
A study has been conducted in determining quality of life in nations, called the "Human Development Index", based on key measures such as life expectancy, education, and GDP. It finds that 7 of the top 10 countries are European, whilst the US is 13th.
Lets take the measurement of satisfaction with life. A study was conducted by psychologists recently, to compile statistics on the citizens of nations who considered themselves satisfied with life. The study found that European nations were among the most satisfied, with Finland being the happiest nation on earth and 11 of the top 20 nations in terms of satisfaction with life were European. In contrast, the US came 23rd in this index.
Murder is a blight on society and, unfortunately, is much higher in the US than in the average European nation. In research compiled by the Geneva Declaration, it was found that North America has a rate of 6.5 per 100,000 people, but Europe has a mere 1.5 per 100,000 people. I know where I'd rather live.
The average American will tell you that he or she has much more freedom of expression and thought than in "socialist" Europe, how wrong he or she is. American schools indoctrinate their pupils with a patriotic fervour that wouldn't be misplaced in the most dictatorial of states. There is a high level of indoctrination also towards being Christian, and therefore not allowing children and consequently adults to come to an independent conclusion about the origins of life, something not seen nearly as much in Europe.
Lastly, it is worth noting that the US is leading the way in the western world in spying on its own people, freedom, eh.
