I think the best President was Thomas Jefferson. He wrote the Declaration of Independence, in 1803 he doubled the size of the United States, established the United States Military Academy at West Point, he kept the United States out of the Napoleonic Wars, as well he had many federal taxes repealed. Jefferson also established the University of Virginia, one of the most prestigious schools in America, plus he invented many things, and he spoke five languages, French, Greek, Italian, Latin, and Spanish.
I think the worst President was Chester Arthur. He was a corrupt official, making almost all his money because of corruption, and he spent his entire 1,262 days in office wasting taxpayer’s dollars, endless renovating and than re-renovating the White House; at one point he asked Congress for permission to demolish the White House.
No, I don’t believe that Israel is an Apartheid state. 16.8% of Israel’s population is Muslim, 2.1% is Christian, and there are around 5.6% that are of other minor religions; these groups all have the same rights as the 75.5% of the Israeli population that is Jewish, as well, these other groups are allowed to vote, hold public office. I do realize that there have been human rights abuses against these groups in the past, however, Israel, despite the fact that they are the Jewish homeland, has welcomed many others from other religions, ethnicities, not just the Jews.
There are so many people though who are apathetic, they don’t take any notice, and they don’t care if their voice is heard; frankly, most of those people probably don’t want a voice anyway, just something else to have to do. Voting is to give those people who care and want a voice to have an opportunity to participate in our nation’s governance, if people don’t care, why should they be forced into it?
Absolutely not. We in North America live in nations where we are free to make our own decisions, as guaranteed by the Constitution in the United States and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms in Canada; we should not be forced to do anything. If voting was mandatory, all that would happen is idiots, who don’t care, don’t inform themselves, would vote for whomever; they wouldn’t take things seriously, and would only mess things up for the rest of us. Our ancestors, and many people of this generation, fought so that we could be free, and when a government forces their citizens to do something, even if it is something like voting, is, strangely enough, taking away a freedom.
I never really thought about Mexico in that light, I always think resorts when I hear about it, but that is very true. Makes you wonder why all these countries are sending troops to places in the Middle East when the violence that we should be concerned about is right at our front door.
Yes, I agree that things are getting better in Somalia; however, the road is long enough that the end is not anywhere in sight, and who knows, one day maybe Somalia won’t be the worst country in the world, but, as of right now, they are.
The definition of racist is, ‘a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to other,’ which is not at all what this question is about. This question has nothing to do with race or ethnicity, but rather the state that the nations of the world are currently in.
I think, by far, the worst country in the world is Somalia. Somalia has one of the worst GDP per capita in the world, at only Intl.$600 per person each year, a 37.8% literacy rate, plus Somalia has placed first in the Failed States Index for the past several years. The economy is imploding; Somalis have virtually no human rights whatsoever, there constant security threats, plus, the Somali government in Mogadishu has no control over the nation, instead, things are being run by Islamist terror groups such as Al-Shabaab.
