 Too young: Children are still too young to use phones. They still can’t decide what is right and what is wrong. They could end up in huge trouble without realising.

 Inappropriate: Children might learn foul language and watch videos that they aren’t supposed at their age.

 Isolation: One can suffer from isolation as he/she will tend to be glued to their phones and not move out of their place to talk to people. Normal socializing that is interacting with pupils is also essential. If this becomes a habit, a face-to-face conversation will feel awkward for students.

 Addiction: Children in this generation have become so attached to their phones that they start sneaking their phones into classes and they will secretly chat without the teacher noticing. This is a very bad habit as the students will not learn anything in the lessons.

 Less sleep: Children will become so addicted that they will watch videos or chat with their friends all night under their bedsheets. This is very bad for young children and can cause health issues like heart disease and stroke.

 Abnormal symptoms: Depression, excessive aggression, abnormal anxiety or even normal anxiety is common with growing children, especially with tweens who use cell phones. Those suffering from social anxiety tend to immerse themselves in front of Facebook and other social media on smartphones. If socially, they feel inferior they tend to avoid social interactions.

 Bad for the eyes: Too much exposure to cell phones is bad for the eyes. Children must go out and spend time in outdoor activities and relish the fresh air, rather than remain glued to their phones. If they want they can go and play football or cricket outside.

 Communication with strangers: When surfing the internet or chatting online on smartphones, it is possible that one might end up building up relationships with strangers, who can turn out to be criminals as well. Children are vulnerable and are easily susceptible to outside influences.

 Cyber-bullying: In messaging apps on smartphones it is very easy for cyber bullies to thrive. They can harass and/or gang up on one person even easier than they could in a school environment. There aren’t moderators that go around monitoring what people say to each other. Anything can be said.

 Lacks emotional connection: There is lack of emotional connectivity since one does not meet the other person. Feelings when shared in person have more impact than calling or texting. The feelings of care and warmth are there when the communication is face to face. There is a decrease in face-to face communication. Face-to- face communication helps better messaging.

 Lack of body language communication: Body language conveys a lot. When chatting with friends online there is no body language communication as one does not interact with another person.

 Promotes laziness: Gluing your eyes to a smartphone can lead to laziness. It is a sheer waste of time for children as they could use that amount of time for completing their homework and submitting them on time. When using smartphones children should keep in mind the time limit and other works and responsibilities which hold more importance to their life than using their phones.

 Insecurity: Social Media is a cause for insecurities due to the fact that it makes people compare themselves to others. How can you not when all you see is pictures of your friends and acquaintances on your newsfeed?

 Causes distractions: Smartphones do distract one’s mind from many other activities. One can be involved in constructive activities that keeps one’s mind healthy. Merely spending hours on Facebook or WhatsApp and conversing via it is not healthy. Statistics show that the exam grades of students have fallen over the recent years because of Facebook. Students don’t concentrate on their homework and instead spend their time tapping different buttons on their phone keyboard or watching YouTube all the time.
