Which prayer? Should it only be christian prayer? Or maybe the school should alternate between christian, jewish, muslim, hindu, animist, mormon, buddist, and scientologist prayers?
Or, alternatively, we can decide to spend our tax dollars only on things that won't make people think the government is sending them to hell.
My point is that because (as you said) bigots are people who are intolerant of opinions different from their own, conservatives are intolerant because they buy ann coulter books in large numbers.
As my last post demonstrated, ann coulter writes books that attacks liberals in a fashion that sounds identical to a nazi trashing jews, calling them godless liars and traitors. The fact that conservatives buy these books in very large numbers suggests that they are similarly intolerant of opinions differing from their own ("liberals") as people who would buy anti-jewish nazi propoganda are intolerant of jews.
Here's the titles of the last six books by the leader of the American Nazi Party:
-Guilty: Jew "Victims" and Their Assault on America
-If Jews Had Any Brains, They'd Be Christians
-Godless: The Church of Judaism
-How to Talk to a Jew(If You Must)
-Treason: Jew Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism
-Slander: Jewish Lies About the American Right
Oh whoops, my mistake. I accidentally switched the word "Jew" for "Liberal", "Christians" for "Republicans" and "leader of the American Nazi Party" for "bestselling conservative author Ann Coulter".
No matter what happens with Obama's policies, the Republicans have moved too far to the right to produce a candidate with moderate appeal. While the Republican nominee used to be decided with a lot of input from party elites, the far right talk shows have taken over the party since Obama's election. Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh will not allow moderates like Giuliani or Huckabee, or even traditional Republicans like Gingrich to become the Republican nominee. Instead, far right "heroes" such as Palin will dominate the nomination process. These candidates will inevitably run poor campaigns that focus on false and trite attacks that the electorate is no longer as vulnerable to due to the widespread internet and decline of a single, easily influenced mass media. However, the Republicans will give a strong convention that will make people wonder if Obama is vulnerable, until a disastrous performance in the debates eliminates whatever hope they had. Thereafter, the Republican campaign will devolve into infighting and will run out of money due to the poor management skills of its leadership, which will cause all but approximately 40% of electorate, representing essentially tea-baggers, loyal republicans, and mistake voters, to turn against them. Obama will then win by a clear margin.
I think its indisputable that the only justification for taking a life is to save a life.
The death penalty is sometimes claimed to save lives through deterrence. However, with life in prison or pretty much any other severe sentence, the benefit to a murderer of killing someone is already far outweighed by the cost. Therefore, murderers are beyond rational cost/benefit calculation and adding to the cost will not create further deterrence.
Thus, it has been demonstrated that the death penalty is not justified.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
