Firstly, a large proportion of countries have stepped up measures at their airports to prevent the spread of the H1N1 flu. Anyone found to have been to affected countries, or have feverish temperatures are quarantined for a period of time, to prevent the virus from spreading to others.
Secondly, a vaccine has already been developed. This shows that scientists mildly have a grasp of the H1N1 flu strain. Even if the flu strain were to develop further, scientists could work on the vaccine that they have developed, so as to continue to work on a newer vaccine.
