Fidel Castro was the leader and the figure head for communism. Now that he is gone, we can move in and let the more democratic leader of the two brothers work with the US to move Cuba toward Democracy. The US wants Cuba to move toward Democracy because they want to improve Human's Rights so improving Human Rights directly is also something the US wants to do. The embargo costs Cuba almost $108,000,000 annually so removing the embargo would benefit Cuba greatly. Many would think that if we give Cuba money, Raul Castro would just take all of it and move back to communism, but as I said before, HR is what is important and if even a little bit of the large quantity of money would could give them goes to the economy, then there will be a huge boost in the quality of life for millions of people. Many people also say that US companies would come in and take all the Cuban jobs and would destroy the environment, but the US is a world leader in being Earth friendly, so there is no reason for The Us to go and start destroying the environment. Cuba has also set up policies to defend against these type of environmental violations. The magnitude of lifting the embargo is large. Lifting the embargo could improve the quality of life for millions of people within the small time frame of a few years after the embargo is lifted and the probability of the quality of life increasing after the ending of the embargo is high. The embargo should be lifted.
Oops. I did not have the intention of supporting this side of the argument.
