I agree that Darwinism contributed to eugenics because they both have to do with change due to the environment. Also, its almost like they work with each other, Because eugenics says that species can change by adapting to its environment and the traits can be passed on which contributes to evolution, or Darwin's theory.
Historically, what was going on in Europe and America during this time was slavery. This had an influence on Darwin's work because, even though he didn't agree on how they were treated, he still believed that they were less evolved than him. Because he has never seen a person of color, he believed they were more closely related to apes. Society was now influenced by this opinion because they believed that they could treat the slaves like animals because they are more evolved than them.
